Anyways what I figgure is this:
Badline = every 8 line right?
Charset = 5 pix max
You can easilly open the sideborder (don't enven have to open the badlines) to make a text-page like you are referring to. think about it, 96 x 25 8-D
Just stuff some sprites n the sides and you good to go with R-Time to spare
edit: If you want you could even get rid of the badlines and put out the chars avary 6 pixels, giving you: 200/6=33 horizontal lines of text aswell... (96x33) Stuff a sprite-logo in the upper border and jerk yourself off for beeing 133t and for listening to TWW! Would probably be a pain in the ass to read though^^ |

Maniac Mansion Mercury Easyflash version blabla uses a full screen proportional font as well (no siderborders)...
I consider the display reasonable fast but not #1 in that aspect.
