IRC He;lp - Webchat for dodgy uplinks needed!
As some of you might know I'm currently travelling Asia (see http://schikilade.blogspot.com), and even though Internet (even WiFi) is widely available here i just cannot connect to IRCnet (#c-64 ofcourse! ;-) Many other networks are fine, IRCnet isn't.
I've tried IRC-clients and webchats to no avail, I always get "unauthorized connection", the servers prolly just say "OMG iz teh Asia!!!!" and run away screaming! ;-)
Any suggestions on how to solve this? Forwarding ports for identd is ofcourse out of the question, even if i had access to the routers I'd have to do it in every guesthouse I stay in!... |

I have the exact same problem with Serbia and IRCNet. XS4ALL's webchat client works fine with me.

IRCnet prefers the usage of domestic servers, if none are available then you should use the international servers.
Check the server list at http://www.ircnet.com/

Believe me, I have tried them all. All of them drop me off as unathorized connection. :( |

The oneliner just reminded me of your problem. Have you tried to connect to a shell account (e.g. c64.rulez.org) and try IRCII from there? I also use that way of IRCing a lot. |

i've been roaming the webchat url's the past few days.. no go really from .au on 8mb/1mb adsl. best of luck, maybe seed.net.tw has one ? |

Ah, so Fyrom's not alone at this. :) The webchat used to work fine for me, now it's gotten kinda slow.
