SIDs that aren't in HVSC yet: post here

While adding Music Preview, the thought occured to me that it might be handy to have a forum thread that holds references to entries of which the SID is not yet in HVSC.

@jox and bordeaux.
this tune you're talking about? mamba 15
or the digitized version perhaps?
I didn't even know for the world Drax was/is the original composer of this favourite of mine! until just now then.
nice to find that out anyway.

3-D Rock

In the second intro (with the TLS 1987 sprites swirling & gray rasterbars) there's this tune that intrigues me for almost 22 years now. From who is it?
It seems like a Sound/Rockmonitor tune.

Scout: No idea, perhaps TMM who is credited for the part? I can't find any match, as usual many pattern lead to a shitload of other rockmon sids but none seems even similar, I'll put it /DEMOS/UNKNOWN/. Weird use of bandpass filter btw, it's almost silent =)

Years ago I told HVSC crew that a massive number of Magic Disks/Golden Disks and Game On games are not in HVSC. Nobody was interested.

Oh! Seems we have someone a little upset here. Let me explain a couple of things.

It's no news there is a massive amount of unripped sids from demos and games.

Just saying it like you just did, well, only makes me reply "I am sure you're right." and nothing else. It's not of any help.

If "years ago" you wrote this in the same way, it's no wonder to me no one replied, at least I wouldn't be bothered to reply if I received such mail with no exact hint on what to check. "Years ago" there were 15000 sids, now they're 38000+, I'm sure some you thought missing are already in, now. Which? Dunno, can't say.

You can't expect us to scan blindly every MD issue and games, probably to find out just few out of luck, or in the worst case that they were actually already all in HVSC but YOU didn't know yet or don't know how to check for them.

We are already doing this random checking on a daily basis. For your information in the last month from update #52 we gathered already 250+ new sids and made 500+ fixes. Yes, you've read it correctly, in one month. You can't really think or say we're all lazy bums that do not care finding and adding missing sids and more importantly that we don't care replying to rip requests.

I'm checking *every day* almost all the rels uploaded here to find out new ones, fixing existing ones and also entering the sid links to CSDb entries - it's a very nice feature that let us track sids usage and history.

But you know, we also have a life, especially members with wives&children - luckily not my case =) - and free time is limited.

Just read this thread again. People say where they think there is an unripped sid, we reply, simple as that. Help us to help you. If you say/link exactly from where, which mag issue, and would also be nice to know which part of the demos etc., then stay assured you'll have a reply and see the eventually missing sid in next update(s).

We have already long lists of games to check and sids to rerip/fix, but very few are actually checked now and then. I personally find very boring to waste hours disassembling old 1984 games with spaghetti code just to extract a crappy blipp-blopp tune with no value that no one knows and will never play again after listening one time. The real problem is that we lack motivated and dedicated rippers. Married sceners refrain to apply for membership, thanks. I already know you won't be very active :P

A real help would be sending the sids already ripped, preferably stating where it was ripped from, but I know it's easier asking us than learning how to do it.

Now I checked and I don't have any mail from you at the hvsc@c64.org address, but it's only about a couple of years I'm the HVSC admin. I'll ask if some of the previous admins have your mail and/or list of rip requests, but please send it (again) just to be sure.

Thanks for the attention. =)

Not found, player identified as A-Man_V1, so could be him or anyone that used the same player. Will ask A-Man.
