Well, have the DTV-possibilities really been explored soundwise? I don't think so. I believe you could make a samplereplayer which could make multichannel tracking possible - like Polly Tracker V1.2 PLUS (Digimax Support) but with clearer sound, better mixing and more channels.
I'm just speculating about what you can do with this piece of hardware, but it's clear that you could use most aspects of the C-64 sound save for the filter. Add a lot of usable memory for samples, a 32 mhz ASIC processor and the option to handle 8 bit samples... Well. You could surely do something which matches THX on it? Right? |

Yep, soft chip sounds a la THX should be doable, and would let you play lots of wonderful new sounds. |

2 * clean 8-bit output is easily possible + you have 2Mb memory.
Making a player that precalculates sounds to some extent is certainly possible.
Think analogue modelled 808-ish drums for example.
