Downvoting, for what reasons?
Seems I got two inverse mega fans. They gave me a set of 1 point votes.
I was a bit interested in finding out who that was, since I've never heard of them or seen any posts from either of them on CSDb.
The votes in question are registered to Auslaender and abracadabra, which is perfectly ok, if they think I suck...
At first I just clicked the abracadabra link and some pretty empty profile with a picture of a magician showed (refered to a guy call Mira, too!). I thought, hmm, strange.. Maybe someone who'd like to conceal himself or something... Didn't think much of it to be honest.
I wasn't untill another one showed. Auslaender!. Strange handle, but then again, we're strange people most of us.. I wonder who that is!.. No profile, when doing a profile search.. Though I'd search the forum for posts, and .. bang... All my indifferent discussions with Nata showed, only Nata showing as Auslaender!.. Sigh!.. Why?.. For what use?.. I don't get it.. He can vote me all the way to the bottom of the list for all I care, but I'm really disappointed.. I hope someone else hacked his profile or something, because that would mean that I didn't misjudge Nata in the past. |

C'mon Perff and CBA why can't we see each others votes? I can't see it as being a mammoth job to implement this into the forum, and I for one don't care if others see how I voted.:)
CBA,Yeah mate I haven't forgotten in fact I have been going thru my disks for the last 2 months,I promise you and JAZZCAT will get a send from me before X-Mas for your respective archieves. Just be patient,Im doing my best. But as for the transperant voting, please please please |

I remember back in the 80's we used to have the same problem with "1 voters" on Compunet. Nice to know things don't change! - Just noticed that I've been 1 voted so I guess that makes me a real scener again! ;-) |

The only way to get rid of the downvoting would be to make all votes public. Since that obviously & unfortunately won't happen there's no use to discuss this any further or start any new threads about it. |

You know what? I might have been the biggest advocate of transparent voting on this forum, but lately I've come to the conclusion that those who prefer anonymous voting may have a point.
After all, every time somebody even votes a 6 for something that other people deem a classic, you get something like "how can anybody vote this a 6? It's a classic!" ;)
Tastes differ. Even if somebody votes low it doesn't mean that he's down-voting, maybe he just doesn't like it.
Ofcourse, if it's a really low vote (1-3) chances are something else is going on. So that's why I, once again, come with my plan to give anonymous voters the chance to vote 4-7 only. And on top of that I have an alternative: let them vote 1-3 or 8-10 as well, BUT!!! make those votes transparent.
God I'm so clever. Too bad nobody ever listens to me. |

I have to agree with you on this one TDJ, sounds like a fair compromise. |

TDJ, you should go into politics and solve bigger problems than these here. You got it in you, I feel it! ;-)
Honestly, that's a very good proposal. |

Cool, TDJ is bringing up his idea at least twice a year, and I couldn't agree more. But what makes you think anything will change, at all? This is the 34th topic about downvoting/transparent votes for God's sake.
And btw. voting a 4, 5 or 6 often makes more negative impact on a high rating than a 1 or 3. Anonmymous downvoters would just set their rate a bit higher and remain nameless... |
