Can someone do this as a sidcover?

This song is f*n amazing!
To do this on the c64, you need about 3 more channels ;)

Nice!!! :D Seeing it like that makes me think that Bach just wanted to test out nice patterns and not make a song. :)

to me it really feels like Bach was pretty darn close to being totally mad. On the positive side though :)
Love these pattern-visualisation.
MOD/DMF ftw ;-)

he was very much into math afterall... he wrote quite some pieces that have a strong math background :)

Ok, <nitpick>not a "song"; a classical piece.</nitpick> One of the most wellknown ones at that; what were the odds nobody had done at least a partial cover, you reckon?

I've done a cover of this one way back. Only up to about 1:40 in the video though. It's based on a recording I have with some other organist and is a bit slower. It was quite fun experimenting trying to get that church organ sound using different octaves with 3 voices, but obviously some of those chords are impossible to get to sound right with a single sid. I remember thinking "what's missing from the sound here" and then the revelation "REVERB!" and plugging it into my guitar amp. It blew me away! Even my parents were impressed.
We've dusted it off and are working on a demo part with the song, so I can't release it just yet..

Mr. Tonehead: get it as a midi file, and then load it in Renoise tracker, or MODplug tracker, and then just type over the notes manually to your SID editor :D

Ofcourse you have to cook it down to 3 voices..

Oxyron party 2, i entered in mp3 music with a disco dance trance version of Toccata.

It's a non mastered XM, and will definately be remastered to super hi fidelity when i can ass myself..!

When i was 14, and went to violin lesson every thursday, a guy was just finishing his piano lesson as i came.
One day he was playing Toccata, and i thought this was the coolest thing, and ever since i have actually made different versions of it.. using only the good parts. :D

Gyruss is the best. The Gyruss arcade has same sound drums on as Arkanoid, and is very technoish!

I did a version in *basic* a looong time ago, although I didn't get further than 2/3 of the tune. The only problem with a conversion, as I see it, is that you'll certainly miss several of those great moments in the tune. Like when you play one tone with your foot, three fingers with your left, and four fingers with your right hand. It doesn't sound very good with only three channels ;-) Ok, you can, and have to, use arps, but still...

Personally, I can recommend Bach's Fantasy in g-minor (BWV542) as this is one of the most dramatic and powerful organ pieces. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dtTme1H_04

btw, I may take up the challenge of a sidcover, as I have the sheet music and know the piece ;-)
