C64 DTV
All i know about one of these devices is, its a joystick with a built in c64 of sorts (30/35 games?). The latest wave of demos for the C64 DTV, can a 1541 be conetcted to one? |

After a bit of soldering, it's possible to add a PS/2 keyboard connecter and an IEC serial bus; power up with the K key down for NTSC and CTRL for PAL and it drops to BASIC and works like a stock machine... apart from all the nice new features. |

I'm really no good with soldering (actually, i've never done it before, but i'm pretty sure i would not succeed... one time i tried and just replaced 'solder here and here' with 'stick tape here and here'), and I hate asking people i know to do that stuff for me...
is there a place on the web that does that stuff for you? (i don't mind paying the extra buck... surely there must be a market for c64dtv soldering that rips off people like car-mechanics do) |

Well, if you want to pay more for the parts and soldering than the actual DTV, check Go64's site. =-) |

it's better to ask a friend capable of electronics to do it for you in favour of few beers ;-)
I don't think that any market will ship modified c64dtv as it's just not really popular and thus they won't earn money on selling modded dtvs , right? |

It's all sounding like lots of money, PS2 keyboads, the DTV, then there's the hunting down for the lead ;)
Soldering neh problem though :) |

Well, a PS/2 keyboard is about a fiver (i get these great laptop style keyboards from me local market) the DTV itself is twenty quid from Argos or Special Reserve and the only cabling needed is the ones to connect the ports to the board so i'd guess about another fiver give or take from Maplins. Thirty to thirty five quid should cover it and it'll connect to a stock serial cable to talk to the drive after that... i'll have a more accurate idea soon, it's an ongoing project for Sack/Cosine since i can't see to solder. =-) |

Xbow is no doubt a legend in C64 scene. Hopefully the DTV will not distract him from the Original C64. or maybe there is no other vic trickery or inventions left... |

You´d need a really smart painter&coder to pull that off.
And I think I am subject of ´wishfull-thinking´ anyway... |

There are probably only a few VIC tricks left to discover, and they will again most probably be pure novelties. Well, unless someone figures out a way to make stable VSP... |

Well he (Xbow) coded a part for me (too be released some day). The part contains a SHIF picture complete with upper and lower borders open and with an interlaced 1x1 virtical scroll position to the right side of the SHIF image. It looks good. It looks very good :) |
