dead accounts ?

How exactly does someone get deleted or banned from CSDB? I am asking for two reasons?

1- I would really like to know why ALIH got deleted
2- For the sake of database integrity. Isn't deleting someone breaking the credits of a release. Now for instance all the GameOverview issues are lacking ALIH in their credits. Isn't that unfair to a guy who has created 35 issues of a great diskmag on the face of an incredibly barren game scene. And apart from the unfair thing isn't this plain wrong to give wrong information in the database. ALIH did create those mags. If the admins etc have a problem with his behaviour in forums (I do not see how) just ban him from entering forums but do not delete the account entirely.

I would like to request people to stay on topic and not turn this thread into the other one about Alih. But there is always that risk anyway

scener profiles aren't connected to user accounts, so when someone gets banned, all the info will still be in the database. (see for example wanderer)

as for alih, i doubt he was banned (i dont see a reason either), but he probably deleted his profile himself. (he never considered himself a scener, and certain recent discussions might be the cause for his decision).

As this is supposed to be a Database over sceners, work of sceners and releases - I see no reason to delete informations about anyone really. Lamers, Idiots or simply Wanderer did his share of the scene - most likely to be forgotten anyway, but still as said, part of history.

In the case of Alih, it was his own decision. He emailed me and told me vaguely that certain people who had problems in the scene with him, decided to extend the playground to outside of the scene and stir trouble to his friends, his company, etc. Jaymz then decided to quit all scene activities. Just to clear that up a bit.

Quoting Alih
Turns out I don't care about the c64 that much when it effects my real life friends. I can't be emailed, someone had my upstream email provider's bandwidth pulled.

The funny thing is, I wasn't in control of the offending website in any case, I just paid for the hosting. But I don't think I care anymore.

A bit cryptic but it makes clear that it was his own choice indeed.

Looks like a stress ball to me :)

Ho, ho.

Back on topic: Yes, I think it is a good idea, regarding dead accounts to remove them :)

That is so fucked up. And such a great loss for the scene. I dare say nobody did a better diskmag. :-(

What's up with your unfounded mistrust. How about asking the first three winners of the compo if they got their prize yet or what the status is, instead of making an idiot of you in yet another forum?

No, i asked Aleksi Eeben yesterday and he got his prize money for winning the Freestyle Jam with Greenrunner (want to try for a hat trick by asking the second and third place coders as well?) which means that everyone else gets to say "we told you so" to you and you get to apologise for being such a cock. You can't apologise to ALiH of course, it's a little late since he's no longer here.

Congratulations for not having the spine to post here about him until after he felt he had to leave this board by the way... show a little backbone now and apologise publicly.

STEPPE why such hostility man,if you are so informed about that other forum then I guess you know who started the argument in the 1st place, and of coz who (yours truly) aims to finish it!

TMR wtf is this shite schoolyard line of questioning? Talk to the hand pal,and make it your own,let it say stop being so nice to yourself(wanker) Theres nothing worse than a whinging POM,honestly man it really stinks,so save it to these who would listen. You decided to attack me on PET ASCHII forum and you just cant help continuing to act like a girl, grow up pal (if yoou can) and try not to use these big words in the mini-chat like POO and POO :)

Thanx are in order for the info that there were actual winners in the game compo,as for any apologies, well lets just stay in the real world, unlike TMR Im not here 24/7 I do have a life outside of computers, and its nice!!At best Im here twice a week...

And lastly,I think his name (ALIH) should be reinstated in the GameOver(view) credits, but that doesnt mean I think his mag is great, like most of you reading,Im just being supportive of a mag, that filled an obvious hole in the C64 community, however few reasders it ammused :)

I'm coming in a little late on this as I don't keep up on C64 as often as I would like, but I do want to write that I think ALIH will be missed. I recall how he did the coding for the HVSC 10th Anniversay, and that was greatly appreciated.

What are the chances that ALIH hosts a web site exposing Wanderer's sick attacks only to have more sick attacks done to ALIH and his friends/family? I don't know the details, but if ALIH had to quit the scene so that a stalker wouldn't stop harassing them, it must have been severe. I am hoping that the Wanderer expose web site will eventually post the details.

I think, as a collective, we need to have some type of C64 scene ethics. We should keep scene disputes in the scene. We will all never get along, and most of us are reasonable enough to either move on or just ignore someone we don't like, but once this stuff spills into illegal attacks on our friends/family/self, people have crossed lines.

So after seeing all that has gone on and reading http://wanderer.artificial-stupidity.net, who here on CSDb is supportive of Wanderer? Who believes that this guy is innocent? Who has partnered with WDR to make these attacks?

I think anyone who has supported or assisted WDR in his attacks should be banned from all scene related sites. If we don't act as a community on these matters, it hurts the scene as a whole and makes this stuff less enjoyable.

@The-Shark: http://wanderer.artificial-stupidity.net is just the tip of the iceberg. Trust me. The guy is unhinged.

Well, it's been about two weeks and not one person has come forward in support of Wanderer. That's refreshing because I thought there were at least 1-2 people out there that either believed his side of the story or enjoyed the kind of sick attacks Michael has done. Maybe they are just as cowardly as Michael (WDR)?

So Wanderer is alone once again much like his entire C64 career. And as much as he talks about having a wife, it is as if he desperately wants people to believe that. I wouldn't be surprised if he is alone in his real life as well especially given all the stalking he does. Mike Lalonde is nothing more than a nearly 40 year old script kiddie with a lot of spare time on his hands. I'm sure he tries to tell everyone that he is some A+ hacker, especially the ladies he might meet when playing on-line video games, but truth be told, anyone could do what he does if they have no life and in the desperate need of a good therapist.

Tomz, the point is that you clearly put your foot in it. No use trying to wind out of this mess now. It's really pathetic trying to attack others now that did nothing more than telling you what your actions look like if viewed from the outside.
