C64 Folding@Home Team
Hello sceners, weiners and trolls!
I invite you all to join the C64 folding@home team.
Show the world the power of c64, do some good for everyone on the planet, and use up those spare cpu/gpu cycles while you watch demos in vice, play games, idle on irc and wank in the various forums.
the team name is JMP$FCE2 , and the team ID # is 145304.
visit
http://folding.stanford.edu/
to find out about folding@home if you don't know what it is.
cpu clients are available here:(windows, linux, mac and PS3)
http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Download
gpu clients are available here:(windows only, nvidia and ati)
http://folding.stanford.edu/English/DownloadWinOther
guides for setting up the clients are here:
http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Guide
there are of course other guides and languages available on the main site.
If anyone is interested in designing a webpage please feel free to and let me know in pvt msg.
I encourage everyone to help fight diseases and cancer by contributing and also showing the scene can still work together to a good end.
(I would also appreciate it if you do not start a flame war or bitch fest in this thread kaythxbai!)
Cheers,
Fungus |

A 3.60GHz Intel Xeon Quadcore is running the client at the moment.
Maybe I'll add some more machines for the weekend :)

I was running United Devices' similar program a few years ago. They keep a lot of CPU time telling you "using only free CPU time". This is not completely correct. I always had the feeling that they are decreasing CPU time if only a CPU monitor program runs ;)
These projects are of course important for the world of science. I'm just warning ppl who cares about having most CPU time available.
I has a CPU. No, they be stealing my CPU time!

the Folding at Home process runs at low priority. anything else will get the cpu if needed. Ive been running FaH alongside cpu hungry apps for months and never had any problems |

Right on guys! Hopefully more join. If you can use GPU client this is the best way waaaay faster than CPU. But whatever you can to contribute is good.
As for 64 f@h client, good laugh, I already got this comment from WiDDY... my reply 12 years for a packet or more would be pretty useless :D

Finally we have an application where a SuperCPU might be useful. |

If SuperCPU was 4GHZ and had 128 bit math capabilities it MIGHT be useful for folding... otherwise not.
