why The Mind Maze ?

After seeing how many people "cracked" it and such, it deserves some explanation as to it's existence.

Firstly, the name's a damned give-a-way "The Mind Maze" - TMM.

Secondly, I wrote it all in Turbo Assembler (including GFX & music) in 2 hours one Sunday. The music player was Falco Pauls - he sent me a load of tunes in ASM and I just loved his sexy player, everything else by myself.

I wrote TMM for one reason - something to be put out by the sceners. I just got sick of everyone constantly asking me for originals, and recracks of lame games being spread - so I made TMM for the soul purpose of being cracked ...

... although NONE of them i've seen so far have the original TMM intro on it ;)

It was actually Derbyshire Ram who inspired me to write it more than anyone/anything else. I read in a post he's no longer with us - can anyone verify this for me ?

The other week, I was playing "Black & White" - and in there is a little section with trees that do EXACTLY what TMM did - I laughed, mostly as I knew it was hardly any kind of challenge :D

It was released WAAAAY before it was sold by EBES.

The thing I liked most was the music though - I keep thinking "maybe today i'll do a proper cover on a MOD, maybe make it better" ... that day's not come yet though :(

Just like in most MMORPG's, you have to bring head as a proof that the boss is dead...

erm... there is some problem with quote code here.

A simple "Yes" would suffice.

I really looked up to Derbyshire Ram - infact the only person I constantly looked up to.

Life came in, took over etc. Lost contact.

I only read about it as a side-note in someones text, as such it was'nt justifiable as truth.

Although I also read somewhere that "wars" had stopped and everybody was nice. That's not quite what i've seen from a lot of people here so I thought checking would be a good idea.

Thats okay if people want to have wars - who the hell am I to argue. I've just faught so damned many of them that it's very old.

Last "war" I faught was against a group called ZF0 who used a script, cracked a load of MD5's and rm'ed a load of servers. That's fighting against people who are purely destructive. Something I don't intend to stop.

Having a fight because you require validation that someone you respected for nearly 20 years has passed on - someone who taught you to relax, battles are'nt always worth it - seems to be silly. It goes against thier grain.

Although I can understand a lot saw my question as "badly phrased" or "poorly placed" - yes, I do that. I can't help it. It's called Aspergers Syndrome. I don't always use the right words at the right time. I don't get a lot of this "social interaction". I've always been an outcast. I'm not going to apologise for the way my minds wired up, and I don't want anyone to accept it as an excuse. All I would like is a bit of understanding.

Yes - I still fight wars. Now I try and find the right targets. I try to think. If any of you actually knew the people i've stopped and why, you would understand.

Although I know there's always a few who consider taking a pop at "the underdog" as the norm. That's cool. Feel free.

I tried to make a post to help people understand things, and maybe learn about the past (for the C64 I mean). Yes, I can see there was a rather ill-put question that upset you - I will apologise for that. I'm not going to lash out because yes - I guess I was wrong. But please understand this. Barry was the best damned friend in the entire C64 scene I had, and out of the scene too. To hear of him as a "side note" in someones post is a bit of a shock and it was. I just feel really bad that it seems i'm the last to know.

Also, yes - I do ask questions in a bad way. I sometimes phrase things wrong. This I can't help. I'm not going to lash out. I've explained why.

In the end, accept me as is, or don't. If you don't know what Aspergers Syndrome is, then seriously - go learn - it's on wikipedia. Autism is something that "didnt really exist" back in the 80's. If it had then maybe the whole history would be different. I certainly would.

Just thought i'd bump this up.

Excuse me - im very drunk ATM so I thought it'd go kinda like this.

Barry Always told me when I was being a total fucking prat - which was a lot of the time.

He'd also call me a southern pansy for "crying" or "being upset" at him passing on.

He laughed his balls off at wars - and knew it was just really childish bollocks.

There was some fewl who took it upon himself to start a war against Barry.

Yeah = we talked on the phone a lot and I feel like a heel for being the last cunt to know he passed on.

But you guys making me feel bad - IT WORKED !

But there's one thing Barry knew about computers, and it was his secret he passed to me.

Wanna know what that secret was ?

It went like this ... GET OUT THERE IF YOU CAN !

He'd let me know if I was being a stupid twat - which was most of the time. we're talking years ago guys. Don't let the bollocks of what the C64 said was the winners.

Yes - now I know i've Aspergers Syndrome - to him - I was just another lost soul. He cared. Do the guys who post here care ? Not many - but enough.

Interesting PM:
> DR was a GREAT man - can you blame me for asking ?

Blame? No! But your request to have proof of his death was a bit ... ahem ... strange?

E3: last time I spoke with Barry (2004) he talked a little about you and I can confirm your previous words, he still thinks you are/were a prat.
