FC64 - open source flash c64 emulator
This looks like a promising flash based c64 emulator, which means eventually all we'll need is a web browser to play c64 stuffs.

my point was really that it is 'open-source' so maybe someone would like to improve it somehow and make the c64 accessable to more people around the world (like in china...oh er sorry, the internet is not allowed in china...) |

what scout wanted to say is, that an emulator like that one is kinda easy to make. but making a decent one is *very* hard.
and i doubt anyone cares about putting time into a flash based one, when there are already other opensource emulators which work a *lot* better. |

i agree with you groepaz, but i just like the idea of an emulator running through a web browser. |

I don't see the point at all. And I guess Fatfrost has never been to China. |

FYI:
I´ve been to China and they do have internet, they have restrictions to it but it´s there and most likely it´s there to stay. Many ativities are forbidden but I got more restrictions at work than I had over there... |

Yes I think this may eventually be ok for people who want a shitty nostalgia fix on old C64 games, and then write about it in their shitty blog with a self-demeaning bad attempt at humor, which makes for awful shitty reading experience. But I don't have illusions of it running newer demos or even more demanding games for a long time.. |

I'm with cadaver on this.
I guess the test of any emulator whatever it is, give it some nice demos to run with perhaps illegal opcodes or just simply pushing the cpu to the maximum, then wait to see if it falls over.

I personally like the Java Version, which is quite more flexible from Jac64. I've set up our Intros and will get some more stuff up, whenever I have the time at our webite: http://www.c64.acrise.net

@chancer: illegal opcodes means nothing. The CPU is perhaps the easiest part of a C64 emulation since it's pretty straight forward. |
