SearchDBC64 Using?
Dear All,
I have a question, I've installed SearchDBC64 and tried to use it, what 'Packs' would it be looking for?
I've tried to use it on a C64 folder, containing various items, mainly .D64's, .T64s' etc...
But when I choose import, it says "Time spend on import: 00:00:01" and doesn't appear to do anything?
What am I doing wrong?
Regards
Paul. |

It can import all types of c64 files... d64s, t64s, prg, lnx-files etc. You need to point out the directory where the files are located (I edit in config.php - Im not sure if you have to do in this version too).
My guess is you point is to an empty dir which you try to import. Mdz will probably see this later and can help better |

Ahhh, so it doesn't recurse the folders....
Fair enough... |

Hi Trooper,
Im not sure what you mean by "Ahhh, so it doesn't recurse the folders....". ?
To get pack into SearchDBC64 you need two things:
1) edit the config.php, find $internal_path and make this
point to the root of your c64 packs(root folder)
e.g. d:\c64packs\
2) Place packs in the root-folder d:\c64packs\
e.g. d:\c64packs\pack_a\, d:\c64packs\pack_b\,
d:\c64packs\pack_c\dirA\,d:\c64packs\pack_c\dirB\, .....
When you have these subdirs(aka packs) then you can import
them into the searchDBC64.
NOTE: You can NOT import d64/t64/lnx...etc that ARE in to
root-folder itself!!!! They NEED to be placed inside subfolders.
Let me know if you still have problems!
Happy searching!
greets, MdZ

My meaning was, I was originally thinking, it took the root folders and searched within, and recursed (if that is the right word) within, Starts with C:\64, checks, finds there are folders "a" "b" "c" etc, and checks within "a" finds in "a" there is "a1" to checks in there, etc, etc...
The original post I put was "what 'Packs' would it be looking for?" and Masons post didn't stipulate there was "Packs" available, so I just 'presumed' that if I had a folder containing various files, be it demos, be it GameBase files, etc, it was a Searching Program (using MD5, etc) to make sure the ones I had were the correct files.
It would appear now from your post that there are indeed packs of files that are around on the internet somewhere...?
To give you an idea of a subfolder I have within my folder, I have first off...
"C:\C64\" and within that folder I have, for example...
"Commodore C64 - D64 (tosec 0.30) (0 missing)"
"Commodore C64 - Demos - T64 (Tosec-v0.05)-Mcsteam"
the only folder I'm thinking I can use to search is the one called..
"Game Packs (Blast Etc)", which contains.. "0","a","arcade","auto", etc....
So, I made sure, I just had "C:\C64\" and within "0","a","arcade","auto", etc.... but on trying to import, it takes 00:00:01, and doesn't do nothing, so either these are the wrong packs, or I'm still doing something wrong...
Thanks for your input, any more tips or pointers would be appreciated...

There are a lot of packs , check the following :
Forums > Requests > THE MOVERS Treasure Chest
In there new c64 transferred disks are posted to be downloaded.
They can be imported into the Searcher, or the disks that
you transfer yourself.

yes, it will recursively import all subfolders of a pack.
- remember to ensure that the files are c64-fileformats: d64, d81, lnx, t64, prg etc.

dont get confused by the "pack" thing. a "pack" really is just nothing more than a subdirectory with files in it :) |
