As a few people asked about this…
The multicolour images found in the mag are 96x96px (48x96 double pixels) 6 colour images. These are made using a layer of multicolour sprites (3cols), 2 layers of x-expanded hires sprites (1col each) and the 6th colour comes from a flat background colour behind the sprites.
Since the menu is made using sprites too (to help us enable/disable the menu rapidly), the sprite images disappear when the menu is raised - and we replace the images with a “cutout” placeholder. |
