1. Arctic Circles by Dane (.sid) (3:11 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 18) (1269 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Untypical, well executed, so far away from club stuff, funky crap and oldschool nostalgia. Bravely, it says goodbye to drums and bass, to attempt an unexplored path, and it wins its bet! Thanks for this, whoever you are.

The Syndrom: very moody tune, even with using "simple" instruments...

LordNikon: Really a perfect bunch of Bytes...

Monk: Melodious and beautiful, touching and nice bravely drumless song. Different than the zillions of drumsongs people usually make. It takes guts to create rhythm without drums, as the temptation to use drums is always huge. Nice echoing ambiance and good filter usage (for a 8580 anyways..).

Intensity: A fascilating feeling comes over me, always when I listen to this tune, like if I am flying over the mountains. Great piece of art by hmm... Dane?

Xiny6581: This one give me chills and I can’t say it’s bad. No it’s very nice and could also be one of the winners.

Domey of Panic: Piece of music with the most emotion in the whole competition. Like dancing waltz on the ice. Just lovely, Stellan.

Jucke: The intro says "blackmail presents... Dutch Breeze 2", and then you realise it’s a fake by some russian group. Where are my earplugs? I cant stand this over-worked over-melodic ’looki looki how good i can play pop’ music. This is what I hear in my nightmares. Torture..

Psycho: Another masterpiece. Recognised style and sound ;)

Raf: another one without drums , with nice warm synth sound - this is how the sid was meant to sound when released or what? :)

Orcan/React: No need drums, no need arpegios, no need a lot of bass and if someone knows how, he can write nice music with excelent atmospheric feeling. This is music which I was waiting for long time. Great work!

gilligan/Triad: this one has ’typical awesome Dane stuff’ written all over it. I love it.

Uneksija: another tune that’s not like the basic groove jam SID music... And a decent tune it is.

Oxygener: Emotional melodies but too long intro... gets very nice at 01:00... but more variation in the sounds would have been nice.

Wotnau / Dmagic: The intro reminds me of the immortal Robocop 3 tune, the rest is cute as well, strong, full sound. Love it!!!

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Very good. Arpeggio is very fine. I like when all instruments sound together (1:00-1:28). Maybe the sound remember Fred Gray or one game I don’t remember the music author.

2. I swore a vow on my dying breath by Linus (.sid) (3:22 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 14) (1227.5 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: ...about stopping to smoke? :) This is classy stuff, no more words to define it, the final is a masterpiece of its own. Vincent, you on the keys?

Dane: At first my mutilspeed allergies made it hard for me to like the tune. It grew on me though.

The Syndrom: sounds like jeff ? instruments are perfect

LordNikon: let me guess... its grg who is doing that wonderful stuff ;)

Intensity: The sounds and the structure of this SID are brilliant. Furthermore it’s very catchy and I love the melody at 1:18 min. Even a real-music-Electronica-Tune can’t beat this. Great SID, my personal winner of this Compo. Sascha Du alte Sau, hassu aber jut gemacht!! :D

Xiny6581: Totally awesome in all perspectives. Nice sounds and rythms which making the whole song a lovely mix of old and new!

Domey of Panic: Great Scott Walker! Progressive beats for the pole position. Still half a mile away from the recent Peckinpah titles.

Jucke: I want to say this tune is boring and too normal in style, and yet I find myself getting goosebumps with a urge to jump up from the datachair and perform strange jerky dancemoves. Maybe it’s the funky bassline? Or the adventurous arrangement? Or the kickass sounds? It takes a killer demo to deserve a tune like this. This is more than impressive.

Psycho: Fabulous sound and rhythm. Multispeed mastery to perfection.

Orcan/React: Uff, such great tuned mix of drum and bass and of course excelent performance. I envy you. Very, very good music.

Uneksija: groovy, not badly done at all

Wotnau / Dmagic: Sound like MON in the Rubicon times in the beginning, then goes a bit Polish multiframed

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Too many techno for me. Some instruments are very very good. If I have to vote for the quality of instruments it will jump up in my ranking

Linus: "Hillarious title and certainly the fucking _Worst_ track in the compo. Place #99." (Linus commenting his own tune ;-)

3. Albino Human by Fanta (.sid) (3:58 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 35) (1205 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: It reminds to me Mike Oldfield’s "Incantations", man you’re capturing me by feelings!

Dane: A cinematic masterpiece. My hat is off.

LordNikon: Yeah nicely done

Monk: Maybe I should have rated this tune higher. After all, I adore those simple but good-sounding bongodrums and how the song changes refreshingly at a couple of points. Also the bongo and bass seem to play a bit different rhythm, yet it all fits together. I also like how different lead instrus are used to add variety.

Domey of Panic: Fantastic! Galway says hello to Jarre. Especially the baseline from 1:18 and forth got some huge Oxygene influences.

Jucke: space.

Psycho: Excellent piece of music. I can listen to it all day long. It’s good to relax too.

Raf: very nice buildup, original feeling, great to listen in the background, and.. no drums? ;p

Uneksija: a technically good tune, and doesn’t sound bad at all

Oxygener: Very nice beginning and emotional tune.. but it becomes a bit boring after a while. Should have been shorter IMHO.

Wotnau / Dmagic: Loses the initial drive throughout but I love it - one of very few tunes in the compo that tell a story!

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Some sounds are Galway like (eg. parallax), with a background sound a little like Matt G. Middle of tune has his style different from the beginning and ending. Fantastic tune

4. Critical Grid Voltage by CreaMD (.sid) (4:35 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 22) (1167 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: How much stuff in a single tune! And listen to the sound, trying to stifle jumping in your room: I bet you can’t.

Dane: Nice instruments but I’m missing the kind of melody you can remember two weeks after listening to it.

LordNikon: Nice massive and funky Tune ... really a nice composition.

Intensity: The Sounds of this tune, especially the drums and bassline are very well made, same goes for the melody-structure. About the melody itself I have too say, that it’s definatley too happy for my melancholic soul :) But iIt’s definatley the best SID from CreaMD so far :D The first time I have listened to this I really was like GOSH, WOW, SHIT, Those Sounds!! :D

Xiny6581: Very good, cool and unique. This is truley a new taste of the grape in many points. One of those songs which will point out. Maybe even a winner.

Jucke: Promising start, and then the lead-melody comes in and totally ruins the vibe, and then it progresses from there into parts with melodies that sound like they were ripped from Fun-Fun/Laserdance/Koto records from mid to late 80’s. Impressive bass-drum sound though.

Raf: just love the instruments and positive vibes , including that loud -> louder -> deeper kick , nicely polished tune which magically makes me happier

Orcan/React: OHOH. CreamD is not only one of the best c64 webmaster and organisator but very good composer as well. Fresh rhytm, valuable solo with addictive melody is good reason to say "I am here men"

Uneksija: good technically with good sounds, good groove, good melodies, good everything, or great in fact!

Wotnau / Dmagic: Sounds Creamy-Deamy - but why so grave sound? Where’s our happy CreaMD? However, this CreaMD shows more of an ear for arrangements and sophisticated tune, + some moments positively remind me of Guy Shavitt

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Not bad.Good instruments too.

5. Misunderstandings by Zabutom (.sid) (2:00 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 30) (1122 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Now this tune oozes skill experience and fantasy from any pore! Awesome!

The Syndrom: very catchy melody/harmonies - still had it in mind after a few hours! and even after waking up the next morning! :-)

Monk: A solid simple structure and innocense and decent instrus. Melody playing sounds juicy and the structure changes enough to keep from being boring. A tad more energy and this would be a winner in my book, but like this it’s still very pleasant experience with no major faults.

Intensity: Zabutom, you are TEH GREAT! The more I listened to this SID, the more I loved it! Wicked SID-tweakings and a heart-warming touching sweet melody! :D Very nice.

Domey of Panic: Very nice, I like.

Jucke: I really enjoyed the way this tune starts, how it kind of stumbles over itself the first seconds and then gets steady. There are parts of it that remind me of old electronic records by Yellow Magic Orchestra from japan. Really nice stuff.

Uneksija: some OK sounds, but not that special

Wotnau / Dmagic: Good sound, the tune has potential - but leaves most of it unattended

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Clean sound;in a part it remembers me for some seconds another tune.Good one

6. Teh Disco by Jammer (.sid) (3:06 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 10) (1119 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Who will save the c64 scene against the invasion of ’70ies disco tunes we stand since Reed’s "BF"? Anyway, this is a cool one!

Monk: Impressive 70’s disco sound! Humor, great instruments and consistent style. Great stuff!

Intensity: Jammer, you son of a............. popular and nice lady! As always we have nice sounds in this once since we are used to it from Jammer. This SID would fir *perfectly* in Fairlight’s "Boogie Night"-Demo. It’s a very nice SID, but I know that Jammer could do it EVEN better! :D

Domey of Panic: Baby night fever, night fever! A very entertaining track with smooth and soft sounds. Boogie Factor up to 100%. Well done, Kamil.

Jucke: Vibrants on cocaine, all wearing bright yellow t-shirts jumping around pretending to be living smilies. Superb sounds and production which kinda makes up for what otherwise would have been just another boring sid poptune. The thing that strikes me the most is that the drums and bassline sound so human its almost scary. The more I listen to this tune the more it sounds like a real drummer and bassguitarist playing. I think the chords and melodies are totally overkill. The rhythm and bass alone would carry it.

Psycho: I would like to hear this one in the club on huge speakers with bass turned on full. Fantastic arrangement.

Raf: great sounds , great arrangement , this one probably shows new direction in enhancing sid music

Orcan/React: I have to say that I hate origin disco music like this. But....I listened it at least five times and I had to say for me that Jammer did it absolute masterfully. After time of hearing I catched myself that I am smiling because it is so realistic. :-)

Uneksija: cool disco groove. Interesting sounds.

Wotnau / Dmagic: Nice sound but the tune goes from nowhere to nowhere

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Good the arpeggio used in instruments. Not the style I like, so it receives one point below.sorry

Richard - Teh Disco - Disco rulez!

7. (everything seems to be) Alright by Randall (.sid) (4:40 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 21) (1074.5 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Complicated club music construction that suffers a bit the "just heard before" syndrome, with several cool steps. Needs a longer listening session to be assimilated, and you would appreciate it as it evenly deserves, but personally I can’t pluck up a sad (misleading) feeling of astute composition in it.

The Syndrom: I like that alternative usage of instruments, combined with that ever changing, never boring action in the song.

LordNikon: yes even the tune seems to be alright ;)

Intensity: Very nice drums and bassline, the same goes for the rest of the sounds. Typical Randall tune, and he showed again, that he is a worthy competer in this compo. Thumbs up for this tune!

Xiny6581: Good pick of instruments which are making the song interesting, catchy and jazzy

Domey of Panic: Honestly, I really can’t get a good hold on this tune. It’s like there’s nothing catchy in it, after all. Great sounds and technically everything is more than okay. Sorry to say this, but I know you can do much better, Michal.

Jucke: Promising start, then the lead comes in and totally destroy the mood. I dont know whats wrong with me, but I just cant stand how the melodies and chords work together in this, and the way everything seems to shuffle and turn around at times. Just disturbing.

Psycho: Listening to this for the first time i thought it was ok. However the more times i listened the more i like it. It’s great.

Raf: technically nice and so on ... not my style probably :) good sounds .. funky plumky...

Orcan/React: Here is not very much to say. Another quality product from one of two Polish guys who show us what does it mean to do good music. I think that author of SID chip must listen your musics to understand that composing have no sound limit absolutelly. I mean mainly bass sound. It is incredible.

Uneksija: this one has been made skillfully, and sounds OK

Oxygener: Nice variations and good use of sounds.. quite jazzy! Very nice tune!

Wotnau / Dmagic: Has a start and an end, develops nicely but misses out on my taste - that’s life...

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Not in my style, but it is very elaborated and with good instruments, so it goes up in score. Else it seems to have (1:13) a little sid speech in it that say Anstrid (a name)

8. Electric Jesus by Intensity (.sid) (3:45 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 27) (1062 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: The best reverbering arpeggios I heard ever! It could be my prefer one, but the only think I didn’t appreciate so much is the weird 4096x speed drum. Fantastic anyway, thumbs up!

LordNikon: Reminds me on some old TechnoTracks and some Speccy Demos.

Monk: Unmistakable energy-trance-style with atmosphere and heart. Cool and very fitting trance-sounds. A bit repetitive but all in all very nice package as a whole!

Xiny6581: I feel energy and it gives me a dance feaver. The sounds could have been better nevertheless still very good

Domey of Panic: Well, this is not exactly the type of music I’m too fond of, but the dynamics are just great!

Jucke: At first I went "oh no, not trance music again.." but this one becomes better 1.15 into it when it starts sounding a bit arkanoidish with those hard hitting arpeggios and snares. A dude from finland called Flotsam made a similar trance style tune back in 1992, but that one was darker and moodier.

Raf: at first I thought... another fast disco umtz umtz with raw pulse bass... but after several second nice background appears... surprisingly or not - I still can listen to it in a loop for very long time

Orcan/React: The best Intensity’s music I have ever heard. You founded very interesting kind of trance chord. Music is simple but very nice.

Uneksija: this one is technically great, some of the sounds are very good, and most importantly, it sounds very good!

Wotnau / Dmagic: Hate the name, love the sound, more of a melody would do the tune fine

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: This is the sound I like (Matt G. rule..)! One of the best.

9. Quick 'n Dirty by The Syndrom (.sid) (0:42 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 24) (1048.5 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: High quality tune, seed for a future hit that did’t find enough water to grow up in time.

Dane: NIce and of course too short. MSK?

Monk: This song reminds me of a certain scene-composingstyle that many have adopted. It’s kind of hard to explain and perhaps also hard to obtain. It’s both plus and a minus at the same time. Sounds too familiar to stand out, but also clearly shows lots of skill too.

Intensity: A nice SID for a sunny summer day! I suppose G. Hultink is behind this one, but I am not sure. However, a nice SID, which gives me a nice feeling.

Medicus: Drax-style. If its him not one of his strongest tunes (but that does not mean that its not great ;)

Xiny6581: I like what I hear, but it’s nothing new into my ears. It’s one of those songs you’ve heard over and over.

Domey of Panic: I could listen to this all day long, despite the length. Quality funky stuff.

Jucke: Moon of Flash Inc proudly presents, a 4 disk music collection.

Psycho: Unforgettable 42 seconds.

Orcan/React: Very short but very nice...I will expect extended version :-)

Uneksija: not crap but too short!

Oxygener: Great tune but way too short..

Wotnau / Dmagic: Nice sound, short, where’s melody?

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Not the style I like. However it is very good implemented. I could give it one position up for sure.

Linus: "Way too short :) Nice one, nevertheless."

10. Laserflake by Monk (.sid) (3:15 min) OLD SID (6581) (ID: 6) (1043 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: I appreciated its inner western movie soul. The noisy part in the middle is somewhat embarassing though.

Medicus: What to say. I like strings... an oldskool c64 tune... a nice one

Domey of Panic: Starts out nicely. Soundwise quite alright. Too bad it doesn’t bring any good later on.

Jucke: next.

Uneksija: sort of basic SID music in a way. Not crap but not very special either. Nice pad sound on the beginning.

Oxygener: Pretty standard but very nice tune.. ... hmm.. actually its very nice.. maybe I should have voted higher for this one...

Wotnau / Dmagic: Except a few bleeps - I love it!

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Great varieties of sounds. Starting in a style like some Queen or Europe songs. Starting is fantastic!!

Linus - "Nice oldskool flavour and neat flanger effects. A pitty I've heard the chords for a thousand times
and the lead is a bit too thin for my taste :)"

11. Delight by Nata (.sid) (2:14 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 3) (1037 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Easy tune, but captures your heart and you don’t know why...

Ramos/Samar/HVSC Crew: Cool tune in style Cane.

Domey of Panic: Somehow reminds of the ADSR stuff. A sweet background lullaby. Still quite repetitive, gets boring very shortly.

Jucke: "Hello, here’s the turn-disk-tune you requested, remember? Can I join your group now? I promise, I give good head."

Uneksija: this is done in an OK way and is quite delightful

Oxygener: Very nice tune! Too calm for my taste though..

Wotnau / Dmagic: Reminds me of some of Shogoon’s tunes, nice soothing melody to help you cope with life, universe and everything

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Clean sound, instruments very good, nice arpeggio. Maybe I could rate it even more.

Linus: "Hmmmm ... maybe oookaaayish, but way too boring since nothing really happens."

12. White Light by A-Man (.sid) (2:55 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 1) (970.5 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: The typical tune you would use into your best cracktro, very nice.

Intensity: Happy Sounds from loveley A-Man. Really good! I like his style.

Domey of Panic: Would have been better with a more relaxed tempo. Not bad, but still simply no match for your early 90’s tunes.

Jucke: Aargh! No! Why?

Uneksija: melodic, technically good, has some good elements; that makes it a nice tune

Wotnau / Dmagic: Very energetic but somewhat hollow

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: This is good implemented. There are very nice effects in it.

13. Autumn Memoir by Psycho (.sid) (3:22 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 25) (968 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Cool melody, I really appreciated it, but a less pumping drum and a different vibrato/pulse bass would improve it a lot.

Dane: A cute song. What can I say?

LordNikon: Nice composition, nice technique

Monk: Atmospheric and somehow fresh sounding tune. Could perhaps benefit from a bit more imaginative melodies though. Almost feels like the author didn’t have truckloads of inspiration for this one. Still, I rather listen to this than take a beating ..

Medicus: nice sounds... boring melody... useable if you cant fall alseep.

Domey of Panic: So relaxing. Like bubbling under water. Awesome percussion before the end.

Jucke: Nice fart-like bass sound. Matches the fartiness of the rest of the tune. It’s like a long, womanly fart.

gilligan/Triad: Not exactly a compo-winner type, but that’s not the point. I really like its mood.

Uneksija: that arpeggio is kinda nice... And the tune sounds like its name... Not one of the great tunes but also not crap.

Oxygener: Quite minimal but yet effective and emotional!

Wotnau / Dmagic: Nice, slow, but doesn’t stay in memory

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: This is a very relaxing tune with some elaborated instruments. Remember a little Dane sound in some

Linus: "Nice one, but not really my cup of tea."

14. A tune by Hein (.sid) (3:00 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 13) (938 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Incredible to say, sometimes I thought it has been built like "Wizball" in the final part.

Dane: Interesting and catchy. The instruments are a let down but the melodic part in the end makes up for that. Let me remix the next song before you release it!

Intensity: Very Heinish that is, maybe also from G. Hultink. However, I like this one.

Domey of Panic: Great diversity. Smells like Shogoon at some point. It’s like an onion, it has layers. Geweldig, heer Holt.

Jucke: Ok. Here are those strange out-of-tune notes again. In the last sidcompo one of my favourite tunes was quite similar to this, and it might just be the same author. No matter who, this is really nice. And quite strange musically too. (:

Psycho: Every time I listen this great tune, I find something new. 3 minutes of pleasure. I love it.

Uneksija: some good sounds, but melodically not interesting enough

Oxygener: One of the better minimal tunes in this contest... too experimental melodies.. (out of scale).

Wotnau / Dmagic: Sounds like Zyron in his Oxsid Planetary period - skilled musician sacrificing a great ear for sound and melody for artistic intention. A big pity IMHO. Still the development of the tune is great!

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Some parts are good but the sound is a little too strange for me.

15. Kollision by Maktone (.sid) (2:46 min) OLD SID (6581) (ID: 8) (932 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Ok, ok, I admit to have a morbid weakness for its melody in the middle.

Domey of Panic: The man behind the beard. :)

Jucke: The keyboard solist is on speed and wants to prove everything in the world to us. "Looki looki how good and FAST i can play, cool eh?" Yeah dude, you’re like the Yngwie Malmsteen of the Sixtyfour.

Uneksija: a good tune, especially that melody starting on 1.23 is very nice and sweet!

Oxygener: Nice variation and usage of sounds.. A great beat and intense melody.

Wotnau / Dmagic: Nice sound bout no idea

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Some part are very very good and elaborated. In others a little too repetitive. But it is good in average

16. Triskelion by Asterion (.sid) (2:16 min) OLD SID (6581) (ID: 34) (926 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Soundtrack for your adventurous wandering in the wilderness. Smells like tinn... ;)

Monk: This tune uses drumless rhythms quite skillfully and it seems that it even makes some progressive rock-sounding rhythmic oddities! Also uses double-melodies quite skillfully and doesn’t have the usual arpeggio backing up the structure and manages to pull it off convincingly. Still, I couldn’t get a lot out of this song musically or energetically speaking. A bit ’cold’ feeling, as if this song was ’programmed’ instead of ’created’.

Domey of Panic: The cheerful heroes in their silky pantyhoses. Discharge your bow and shoot that apple on his head!

Jucke: King Pubert and his 12 Mongoloids gathered around the speaking headless chicken, and all of a sudden, it started speaking. It told them this: -"you shalt not make more middle age tunes for the commodore sixtyfour, else my lost head will haunt you."

Psycho: Rich sound creates a nice atmosphere. Very enjoyable composition.

Raf: sth very original among other tunes ... I don’t really like this kind of music but I appreciate the style and very clear sounds.. and... no drums ? ;-)

Uneksija: whoa, like old game music. Knight-SIDalot-trying-to-save-the-kingdom-by-finding-the-stone-of-eternal-extra-lives-from-the-cave-of-the-monsters-that-look-like-lego-bricks. Well that’s not a bad image.

Wotnau / Dmagic: Nice semi-medieval sound, but lacks strong melody

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Asterion Celtic like tune. Very clean sound. Good tune. Sometimes I ask myself how it is possible to make the sid sound like this. Well done!!

17. Tuesday Weirdness by No-XS (.sid) (2:50 min) OLD SID (6581) (ID: 26) (924 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Very cute melody, built up by someone that should be skilled a lot.

Jucke: It’s as if we were playing cards and I would know every single one you pulled up in beforehand, just like in that old movie, Evil Dead. And then I would turn green and start speaking in demon voices, and you would grab an axe and try to chop my head, and, and.. this is a bit predictable.

Uneksija: well this ain’t bad weirdness at all

Wotnau / Dmagic: Love the sound and quite like the melody - a few great motives

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Good instruments. Tune is good. I listen for long long time!!

18. Illumination by Surgeon (.sid) (1:40 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 11) (921 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Nice. The drum in the beginning seems to be victim of a perilous ring fx.

Dane: What are those effects at the start supposed to be? Chirping birds?

Domey of Panic: PVCF-influenced from the start. Sadly, the tune itself hasn’t eventually got much to offer.

Jucke: Tanz, tanz, taaanz zu dem craptrance muzik, ach ja.. ein, zwei, drei, und 342523456.

Uneksija: some good elements, not bad!

Wotnau / Dmagic: Seems someone listened to PVCF a lot :)

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Thecno music, but that vary inside. Good one. Rithm, arpeggio and bass are great!! Maybe it is a little short, and so it not reach the top position just for a point.

19. Shortcut by Dr. Voice (.sid) (2:34 min) OLD SID (6581) (ID: 32) (902.5 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Music for romantic troubles, could be much more various, but I like it anyway.

Domey of Panic: One of the best melodies in the competition. Still, something is missing. Doesn’t get to grow to it’s full potential. This would have been a great piece, if you’d had a little more time. Or should I say, if you’d started a year earlier, my friend. :D

Jucke: Strange compromise of a tune in my ears. Not strange enough to be intereresting, and not normal enough to be appreciated by the ones who like traditional stuff. Kinda unique in that sense, but it makes me wonder if the author balanced it along that thin line consciously or not?

Psycho: There is something in this one, I can’t stop listening to it.

Raf: just a little sensible airwaveshaker for my ears tired of allday urban noise

Uneksija: this ain’t so badly done, but I just don’t like the composition very much

Oxygener: Very nice track...

Wotnau / Dmagic: Very nicely built, I appreciate it but it’s not my favourite genre, unfortunately

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Arpeggio in this tune give it the right feeling. Good

Linus: "Nice one, again not too exciting tho."

20. XeO3 Main Theme (_hidden.sid) by Luca (.sid) (2:08 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 7) (868 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dane: One of those LSD choruses that work so well at demoparties!

Monk: Honest-sounding playful tune with quite a touching tone. Always like when arpeggios are used skillfully like in this one! Also the subtle sync usage is appreciated. Could perhaps vary the structure a bit more though, and somehow I get the feeling it falls a bit short from what it could be.

Domey of Panic: My ears hurt. Seriously.

Jucke: Horrifying vibes. Maybe I would have enjoyed this after a bottle of vodka?

Raf: _hidden_comment

Uneksija: altough not one of the really good tunes of this compo, it’s kinda cool that people do this sorta melodic stuff

Wotnau / Dmagic: If it was slower, one could better appreciate the nice structure, but yeah, lovely tune indeed!!!

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Few seconds: unmistakable 8580 filtered sound by luca (Soulfixer rule :) ) Listen for hours...

Linus: "Nice pop tune. Reminds me on old Supertramp stuff somehow."

21. Mountain Morning by Sidder (.sid) (1:42 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 9) (859.5 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: A painting of nighty uncertainties nullified by the rising sun. Love it.

Dane: Creepy but not enough dynamics to fit a horror movie!

Domey of Panic: Expected a little more from this one. It sort of ends before it even begins. Totally relaxing atmosphere.

Jucke: Oh, what a wonderful eerie feeling. Ah. Spooky movie style. And the way it transforms into a somewhat happy goofy tune. I just love it. How could i not? This is not a demotune. This is the theme for a strange movie.

gilligan/Triad: Also very moody, like it

Uneksija: it’s good that people make sid-music in styles that differs from the basic "drums, bass, melodies and jamming"-style. There is a "mountain morning" mood in this tune indeed.

Wotnau / Dmagic: Sounds like Luca/Fire

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Maybe it is too much repetitive. However it has a good night athmosphere.

22. INC $D418 by Richard (.sid) (4:14 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 2) (852 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Linear, cute, lacking variety.

Medicus: Starts boring and nobody knows "will this be a great or crappy tune" ... perhaps not everyones taste but I somehow like it ;)

Domey of Panic: When comparing the beginning with Richard’s SidCompo V entry, I get a strong feeling of déjr vu. And I hate that drum, too. Out of fresh ideas, eh?

Jucke: Hey, wtf, eurodisco does not have a retro value YET. This is 2006 for christs sake. Argh!

Uneksija: interesting style. This is OK.

Wotnau / Dmagic: Nicish technoish tunish - reminds me of Richard Bayliss

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Richard Bayliss here.I thinks so as I pass all October by re-listen all his tunes and this is a tune with his style that I can listen for hours... A "you can’t play stop in sidplayer" tune..

Linus: "Richard, why don't you just put some more time into your tunes and try something different for a change (e.g. work a bit or two on the basdrum)? :)"

23. Carrier Lost by RaveGuru (.sid) (4:35 min) OLD SID (6581) (ID: 20) (834.5 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Significant when under heavy dopes, and I say this meaning that’s a good comment.

Dane: The distortion effect at 0:19-0:21 won me over.

LordNikon: /me is dancing the data-twist

Intensity: Really wicked 303-Sounds in this one. I like them better than in the paisely-SID to be honest. There should me more of this style on the C64. Good stuff! I am curious who the composer is.

Medicus: Nice instruments... not some of the classical c64 sounds. This one would fit wonderfully to a nicely designed trackmo. yes.

Xiny6581: Very nice sounds which reminds about one of those modular synths that’s been tweaked to the maximum

Domey of Panic: This is the groove! Finally something totally fresh and experimental. Full house with three aces and two kings.

Jucke: ok. Another chicago acidhouse inspired attempt. Nice that it sounds like a human is pulling the knobs all the time, changing the filters and other details troughout the tune. Very repetitive and progressing arrangement. Love the way it starts to squeek halfway into it, sometimes almost out of control. This voting system with ranking doesnt give me much justice in my judgement. I like this more than the place i put it in.

Uneksija: cool loop & effects - but there’s pretty much just that loop, and it’s not enough to make this a really cool tune

Wotnau / Dmagic: Nice techno tune but not my taste really

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Sound more good at the second listening. Some sounds are very strange, but listen again and they sound better and better.

24. C606 by Alex B (.sid) (2:50 min) OLD-NTSC (ID: 16) (826 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Great intro, good instruments, neat balancing. A pretty cool one.

LordNikon: The Composition is extremly great, but the filtering could have been done better, anyway i like this tune very much :)

Domey of Panic: Suits perfectly for the start of a day with a banging hangover.

Jucke: Bratwurst Mayday! Alert! Stomp! Stompf! Stompfh! Käse! Kraut! Tanz! Deutschland! Knarz! Ja! This style of music was over exploited and boring already in 1993. Wait another ten years before the cycle goes around and it becomes interesting again, if ever.

Raf: I like this ’commodore 606’-or-what-that-c606-do-mean roland TR-606 beat machine simulator. oh , and NTSC scene is still alive ;p

Uneksija: has some melodies, nice filter effects, heavy bass drum... What else can I say than BOOM BOOM, which has a positive meaning in this case.

Oxygener: a bit too simple ...

Wotnau / Dmagic: Dance, dance, dance!

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Very, very good. I like it. One of the best. Rithms is wrapping!

Linus: "Sounds could be better - unfortunately not my cup of tea anyway."

25. Breath by Rusty46 (.sid) (3:51 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 31) (790 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Ooh, now this is a melody you can’t take for granted, and though not completely olied in its gears, it keeps awaken your interest longer than several others.

Domey of Panic: Bad breath, use a mint. Sounds: OK. Composition: NOT.

Jucke: What did i just hear? I cant remember, or rather, there was nothing that made me pay attention. Did my phone ring? No. Did someone knock at the door? No. Are the neighbours whipping eachother again? No. Did I hear something?

Uneksija: when I started to listen to this, I accidentally spilled my beer. Luckily it wasn’t a sign of things to come since this tune had some enjoyable moments.

Wotnau / Dmagic: Has good and bad moments - overall a good tune though

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: It is very elaborated, with lot of sounds. Good.

26. Lazy day by Rayne (.sid) (4:05 min) OLD SID (6581) (ID: 23) (786 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Very nice synched arpeggios here.

Monk: The stucture of this one reminds me of some 90’s dance songs. The name is very fitting, because the song seems to progress very lazily and frankly boring me quite a lot along the way. But it still has some atmospheric parts, like when the theme changes a bit in the middle section when the first drumless part starts. Later on the melodies get better and the song seems to gain altitude. But not enough to rise higher than this in my rankings. Doesn’t really offer that much to the listener despite almost otherwise flawless execution.

Jucke: All of a sudden it’s 1990 and im pressing space in a crack-intro.

Uneksija: technically decent with good elements. Not really great, but not bad either.

Wotnau / Dmagic: Too slow and small development

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Perfect song with clean and various sounds and well done realization.

Linus: "It's the early 90s again and I am reading the Game-On issue I just bought. Unfortunately neither the lead nor the arrangement do anything to me."

27. Alt.nerd.obsessive by LordNikon (.sid) (2:53 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 12) (759.5 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Love its general low volume’s plot, a lighter drum would have helped anyway.

The Syndrom: reminds me of the little puppet of a levis (?) commercial, very high-level instruments... !

Domey of Panic: A bulldozer for a bass. Nice electronica.

Jucke: Lovely funky and simple bleepy tune with a rhythm that breathes because of its interesting variations. Uses really simple melodies putting most of the emphasis on shuffle-like variations in rhythm and arrangement. I’m really into this, I can feel it. And yes, sometimes less is more.

Uneksija: an OK style and idea

Wotnau / Dmagic: Less energetic boredom, its inner tension etc. leave me unaffected

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: This is a tune that can be used in a Popeye like game (it remembers me this game). Melody is very beautiful

Linus: "Doesn't do much for me. Some of the instruments have obviously been ripped from Jammer."

28. Summer SID by Uneksija (.sid) (3:00 min) OLD SID (6581) (ID: 29) (732.5 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: I paid November’s mood, and didn’t get the right feeling.

Domey of Panic: Sun is shining, the weather is sweet, yeah! And everybody can have one extra ice-cream for free. Platform-gamemusic, says my fiancé.

Jucke: The other night I was watching Xpertelligence by Horizon, and there’s a tune very similar to this. Maybe unconciously inspired or not at all, but still close.

Oxygener: Simple but fun’n’funky :)

Wotnau / Dmagic: I’ve heard only very few great reggae SID’s. Unfortunately, this is not one of them. It’s fair to say that I don’t like reggae much, though.

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: This tune seems to be indicated for a Comic Bakery in-game remake. Melody is fine!!

Richard - Lilly Allen on the C64. Nice track :D

Linus: "Got a nice feel. Nothing more and nothing less. Reminds me on Mortimer Twang's SID stuff."

29. paisley by Dalezy (.sid) (4:44 min) OLD SID (6581) (ID: 19) (693 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Nice drums base, but oh!? 4:44? I got hypnotized in 4:44! You’ll be contacted by my insurance’s office!

LordNikon: Yeah ... thats what I like!

Intensity: Very nice 303-sounds in this. Really good attempt to do a minimal-acid-tune on the C64. Only one thing I dislike is the monotony of this. However, though I like Carrior Lost, which has also 303-sounds in it, more, this one definatley has deserved to be in the top ten.

Medicus: am i caught in an endless-loop? ugh...

Domey of Panic: Perpetual motion machine finally invented.

Jucke: A quite nice attempt to make old chicago acidhouse style music on the c64. Atleast sounds like that to me. Reminds me a bit about Rave Guru’s winning compotune "assid" at LCP2004, except that one was a bit edgier.

Uneksija: cool sound on the riff, that "beep"-sound effect is great, but in overall this tune doesn’t have enough ideas to be really good

Wotnau / Dmagic: Nice sound in the beginning but ... that’s all I liked about it

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: It is too static. Too repetitive. However some sounds are ED like

30. Ex Inferis by Cadaver (.sid) (2:54 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 4) (685.5 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: A ring fx orgy. Mh, maybe too much of it, but progressive rock sound has been appreciated at last.

Domey of Panic: Ozzy Osbourne and a few more slowminded Satans.

Jucke: This sounds like the tune to a great old space shooter game. Makes me think of games like.. Uridium, Parallax, Sanxion and the likes, and without for a second sounding like a lame attempt to recreate the style in those masterpieces. This actually sounds original. Too bad it was created now and not 20 years ago. It surely would have ended up in a game that would have been a classic by now.

Psycho: Heavy music on C64. Always good to hear different style.

Uneksija: that lead sound is sorta funny, but I don’t get that much kicks out of this tune

Wotnau / Dmagic: Originally in bottom five of my list but crawled up to #11, as it does have a developing melody and strong moments. Thumbies uppies!

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: It has good rhythm and melody, you have to listen for some long times to like it. I thinks that if I listen to it for some more times, it becomes in very upper position.

Richard: Could this be another Metal Warrior type tune? :)

Linus: "Another nice Cadaver metal tune, gotta like the main riff. The tune would certainly have benefited from a more polished sound setup."

31. Zuo: loda szmato by Raf (.sid) (2:43 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 33) (650.5 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Good to robot-dancing on it. And, jeez, I did it at my home!

LordNikon: I heard that theme a thousand times ...

Jucke: in the name of fleischkäse, i press space.

Uneksija: a technically good tune with nice groove and melodies, and I must say I like it!

Wotnau / Dmagic: There’s just something about the old-school sound, a pity the melody doesn’t develop

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Good tune. With some nice arpeggio sound and very listenable. Don’t remember why I didn’t give it one more point as it is nice

Linus: "well, well :)"

32. City Waltz by Peter Bergstrand (.sid) (2:22 min) OLD SID (6581) (ID: 28) (457.5 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: I tried to interpret this tune, but must admit: my tastes are not advanced enough to appreciate it.

Domey of Panic: The kind of waltz that make people sick.

Jucke: Ok. This is by far the most daring and experimental tune in the compo, and it surely doesnt sound like some first attempt. This seems consciously made this way and it throws me into this strange dimension. A winner in its own leauge. No other contribution even comes close.

Uneksija: an attempt at making experimental, avant-garde, music on the SID. That sort of an attempt surely has the potential to really annoy my ears, which however, this tune interestingly, does not really do.

Oxygener: Ok.. or not my cup of tea.. at all. Minimal can be good .. but this.. sorry.

Wotnau / Dmagic: You either love or hate industrial - I’m the latter case

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Sounds here are near saturation, maybe idally for a Alien visit film.

Richard: Poetry of a lonely mind - Episode 2 :P

33. Random Acts of Cruelty by Mermaid (.sid) (1:06 min) OLD SID (6581) (ID: 15) (434 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Randomly cruel.

Medicus: For me this is just cruel :(.

Domey of Panic: More like random acts of irrationality.

Jucke: Ah. Wonderful intro. When the aliens approach me I reply: -"yes, please take me with you in your spaceship. I want to go to planet funk.", and then follows a wild chaotic bumpy lunatic ride into hyperspace. And then I wake up. It was just a sid. Damn, I was so close. I saw the colour of the planet. It was green.

Uneksija: well, it’s cruel!

Oxygener: Ouch.. ring modulation or something in the beginning.. and the rest is just annoying (sorry).

Wotnau / Dmagic: Random notes of music?

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Too short and strange sounds. The bass sounds great.

Linus: "Ehrm ... yes."

34. Break Beep by Vintaque (.sid) (1:52 min) OLD SID (6581) (ID: 5) (414.5 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: Extreme experimenting is good, perverse creepy tunes are good, but adjusting volume levels is good too, sorry.

Xiny6581: Not sure what to say about this

Domey of Panic: Okey now, what’s this then? A presentation of lousy instruments? Geez.. Even the father of this composer regrets he ever bought his son a computer.

Jucke: Very suitable for a fakedemo loaderpart.

Uneksija: too loud drums and not very interesting

Oxygener: Too false and minimal for my taste. Some parts are quite funny though. :)

Wotnau / Dmagic: You either love or hate industrial - I’m the latter case

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: Sound is very heavy. One background instrument sounds good.

Richard: What's that awful noise?

Linus: "Just too data for me. No sir. I really adore Goto80's stuff (in case it's really him), but I don't dig one."

35. @yourface by Josstintimberlake (.sid) (23:55 min) NEW SID (8580) (ID: 17) (370.5 PTS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca: A terrible experimental’s experiment, a tunes’frankenstein made of lost patterns that menacious raises from SID, including a cover at 14:04 (aaaah disqualifieeed! :) ).

Medicus: It hurts!

Domey of Panic: Reflecting some serious problems with mental health. Music for the mass murderers.

Jucke: High pitch squelchy frequencies fly into my ears and hurt somewhere deep inside my head. Is this tune really 23:55 long? What happens to my hearing and brain if i listen to this for that long? Terrifying scizophrenic changes all the time make this a true nightmare to ride with. In short glimpses I get the impression that it is in fact a genious tune, but then the squelchy sounding scizo shit wraps inside out and slaps my face. It’s as if the author is saying: -"so you dont like my tunes? well eat this you motherfuckers!". We are being punished here. For being ignorant. We deserve the squelchy tones that hurt inside the head. Take it. Withstand it. Learn. This is a lesson.I learned mine, but it took 23:55 minutes. I should have voted this number one, but it would be like saying thank you after being beaten up without reason, so I reply with placing it at 30. It’s the only right thing to do. Thats what you deserve, asshole. (:

Uneksija: when I was first looking at the lengths of the compo tunes, I was like "2 minutes, 3 minutes, 3 minutes, yes that’s what they seem to be, 4 minutes, 24 minutes, 3 minutes - oh wait WTF?!?" :D Somebody actually made a tune that’s almost 24 minutes long!! There’s a million ways to do an annoying 24 minute-long tune but this actually manages to not to do it in one of those million ways. Respect!

Oxygener: 23:55 min of ... something.. WHY? :)

Wotnau / Dmagic: Rob Hubbard gone industrial - thanks God the real Rob never did!!!

Stefano Tognon - Ice00: A very strage tune that vary alot. Some parts in it are very good. Listet to it again and you will find them

Richard: 24+ minutes of thumping headaches guaranteed. I turned off after 10 minutes or so.

Linus: "... at least it has guts :)"
