Release id #103634 : Super Wonderboy in Monsterland 101% +17 [pal/ntsc] [easyflash]
What's the difference between old NTSC and NTSC-M? Guess my NTSC 64 is an old one cause it's unplayable. In Vice Old NTSC settings too. I will try to find an C64C then. |

If you want to know the difference from 6567R56A (old) and 6567R8 (new) NTSC VIC-II chips, mainly is a 1 cycle per rasterline (old chip have 64 and new chip have 65 cycles per line). This can make troubles with games that use VSP or similar "tricks" to move the playfield (or where critical timings are involved). |

Thank you for your answer. I'll try to find this chip (6567R8) or I'll open a few 64's to see if they got the newer chip. |

I don't know if swapping just the chip is the solution. Maybe also some frequency (quartz or so...) are different...
You can always try and see... |

Only the 6567R56A has 64 cycles/line and 262 lines. ANY other NTSC VIC revision has 65/263. Bad chips that should have never been shipped is my guess, but that's commodore for you.
IIRC (correct me if I'm wrong) R1 chips have less luma levels. |

6569R1 (i.e PAL) has only 5 luma levels. Which NTSC revisions only having 5 luma levels is yet to be confirmed. |
