Release id #116185 : DuTreff
I used this release to test my *new* kernal, that is SuperJiffyDOS V1 for old C64 (only Kernal, 8kB).
But instead of showing only white screen, it shows garbled chars while depacking (?).
Maybe it is because of the other keyboard layout (german).
Can anybody second that please? |

What does VICE with the same configuration say? |

I didn't test that yet.
My setup: Assy 425 with sjdv1 and 1541u1(2.6d.0918.4)
Appearence: some times, Dutreff starts like a flash and runs
but more sometimes the screen first is garbled but runs
most sometimes the animation starts working but flashing bottom line is faulty |

Does anything (depacker, prg) rely on certain values in zeropage, regs or use them initialized? |

Only guesswork: Most probably Daniel packed with
exomizer sfx $LLHH
Not likely to cause much trouble
Thunder: Why don't you take V6.01 Jiffy DOS
Just checked dutreff.prg on my 407 board (<- whose original KERNAL is Rev 2 with bug <- KERNAL CLRSCR not initialising COLRAM) with 6.01 Jiffy via EF3
-> no problems, decrunches and starts as it should, col ram initialised |

it'd make sense to attach an image of that kernal :) |

Maybe I should have annoyed Gideon first, as this problem seems to be 'selfmade' because of loading with 1541u1.
There is a phi2 setting in 2.6d.0918.4 (AC) saying:
"CPU Addr valid after PHI2" with options 20ns to 160ns in step+20
"PHI2 edge recovery" with options en-/disabled
setting first to 120ns instead of 80ns decreases number of fail starts. they're not gone anyway.
Adding the info, that I'm loading the dutreff.prg with DMA load directly from sdcard, not inside an d64-image |

Just tried it together with Thunder.
Result: obviously DuTreff does not only show C= KERNAL Rev. <=(!)2.0 bugs but also some spooky JiffyKERNAL problems, so in the end, it might help ??? to fix JiffyKERNAL and using KERNAL CLRSCR in this early release by Daniel might contribute to an enhanced Jiffy? Who knows ;)
EDIT Just BTW I'm talkin bout Jiffy 6.01
EDIT AGAIN: Right after start, screen goes weirdo for an instance, then scroll text kinda garbles on Jiffy ^^
EDIT ONCE MORE: Of course no hardly any coder uses KERNAL CLRSCR but this discussion is "meta"/learning from it = matter of principle =P |
