Group id #12711 : Courbois Software
This group was created last night. Although the releases uploaded are demos, Courbois Software was a Dutch company who published games and had published more than 400 games for the C64.
See: https://gb64.com/search.php?a=5&f=1&id=151&d=18&p=0
Is this a valid group for CSDb? |

Two dutch oddball brothers had that company 1982-2012. Started up selling pirated wares, mixed up with their own stuff, and then sold anything for any platform. A lot of Amiga hw and so on in the later years. Seems to have been pretty legendary in the Netherlands, but sceners? I would not say so, no. |

Maybe not for the software, but at least a honorable mention for the meetings in Venlo/Blerick.
Still, the games were often a Dutch hack of existing games, I think. |

The same "problem" could be raised for the Italian computer shop Niwa Soft
they started just as commercial activity, then started making and selling pirated computer programs and hw
They had ads on every major italian computer mag back then

page 83
shameless ;)
Anyway, they were both commercial AND scene related, like it or not they stay. |

I don't think there is a need for restriction to this. One can be in the scene and have commercial activity at the same time. Many examples of that here on CSDb, and why not. |
