Handle id #24400 : Rio Baan
I'm a bit confused about this entry. This Rio Baan is supposed to be a cracker but, looking some of the releases where he is credited, there is no way to understand what was his actual involvement. No intros, no trainers and no visible credits and no sign of his relation to the scene. Apparently, the only reference to him is on the actual file name. Maybe just a local based ripper/cracker? |

No, he's a member of the Gamebase 64 project. They never use intros or credits in their trainer menues. If they do not find a proper crack of a game they'll do it on their own. |

Thanks Rough.
Should they be considered cracks then?
They seem to follow the Desperado (ASS) methodology which are more rips than actual cracks. |

I'd consider them cracks. If you won't you could delete half of the cracks on CSDb. ^^ |

regarding csdb, a crack is defined as "unauthorized modification" - so these definately qualify. |

That's clear now. |

I'm a member of the Gamebase 64 team as a supplier/swapper (and I usually go by the RioBaan alias too). I have a few low-grade rip/cracks about, and in some cases I'm credited by the team with a crack when all I did really was supply. Gawd only knows how much money I've ploughed into sourcing some rare/missing titles for GB64 over the years. ;)
I hope to be more productive in future by doing some music, although I still have to figure out SDI 2.1 first ;) |

Just to be clear, I didn't want to criticize the job you are doing on gb64.
I'm a collector too and I understand the effort to find rare stuff. I was just asking for clarification about the classification of certain releases. All has been clarified anyway. |
