Event id #3345 : Stupid Rainbows Compo
A few final thoughts by moi:
As some people repeat scene is not a good place for politics I strongly
disagree. I think C64 scene is a perfect place for debate and even making fun
of each other while having still something that connects each individuals
beyond their personal beliefs and world views. I like that there are a few
places left outside of social media echochambers where people are challenged in
their own opinions and beliefs because they're confronted with people that think
otherwise.
And art is a great way to deliver insights in world views not only by plain
descriptive language but also by emotions that can be transported by visuals and
music.
I had many debates / arguments with people with other political views at scene
parties and I enjoyed it very much. It is so much easier to overcome predjudice
when you meet in a space where you're already brought to because you have some
shared interest.
And although I also like to give some silly comments online: I think its good
that jetan, who kind of unwillingly started this compo didn't step back and
hides in this room, but expressed his view in a creative act.
As someone who fell into the rabbit hole of conspiracy theories and internet
echochambers myself in my early twenties (after 9/11) I understand that it is
not easy to get out of it and realize that it's not "the others", but indeed
yourself who is "indoctrinated". I sincerly wish you all the best, jetan.
And thanks @TheRyk for making a compo out of it. It was good fun and among the
usual silly stuff there were also some real good productions made.
Cheers,
spiderCorn :-) |

No I was just responding to the hostility from someone I don't even know.
I didn't say I'm an authority, I just said in response that yeah I think I can comment if I want to. I also think this isn't the place for it, and it belong on twitter with the other braindead masses arguing about nonsense that means nothing. What's the point. The memeing (demos) is also coping.
I'll see my way out now. |

Quoting FungusI made demos first, and I've been around since the early 90s, that qualifies me I think. You can express your opinion and so can I.
Opinions are different interpretations of the same facts. Do you really wonder that coming here and making obviously wrong statements like "noone cares", just because *you* don't care or want to care will be considered "trolling" or "provocation for the sake of provocation" by I guess most people?
Quoting FungusI'm not here to fight with you, I'm too old for it. You don't care what I think either, obviously. See how that works?
I do care what you think. You just didn't tell. You let wacek did the work for you, it seems. Which is a view that I totally respect.
Quoting Funguswhere's the fun in pissing and moaning and whinging and whining hmm? Just spreads the negativity, why bother?
Where's negativity? About ~2 (?) of the entries were more on the serious side. The rest was lighthearted and funny.
Hein i.e. even did exactly what you'd like: ignoring the politics and he made a wonderful little demo about bringing us back to nice childhood memories.
And all that is totally fine and fair for me. |

Fair,
I am guilty of knee jerk reactions too.
I still adhere to my opinion that the scene is not a good place to discuss politics or culture or viewpoints. It's not really a good platform for it, and maybe I speak out of line saying most people don't care, I still hold the opinion that they don't.
I am just so tired of it over the last 3 or 4 years that I blew over your comment mostly, but my response wasn't really aimed at that, but in general.
I recently came back to C64, because I do truly and honestly love the machine and doing things on it. I should know better by now, to just stay out of it. So I will henceforth.
May you have a wonderful day. |

I just want to make a quick remark. It should be a dumb truism, but I'm not so sure anymore these days.
Antifascism is not an ideology nor a fashionable fad, antifascism is not a worldview, antifascism is not leftwing politics, antifascism is not culture, antifascism is a civilizational achievement. This lesson had a hefty pricetag.
Our mothers and fathers know that. Hell, we knew that. Did we forget that? |
