Group id #759 : Commando Frontier
Anybody knows what they contributed to the game Iron Lord by Ubisoft? I have just noticed that in the intro scroller, they get a thanks (including a small CFR logo). I noticed it when checking Iron Lord [1581, fd2000, hd] - first thought that this fixed version is based on a CFR crack, but the I+T version also shows that thanks in the game intro. |

Hi, Mad All here...
Ubisoft "harvested" two of our members (Ram and Leto II) as part of their team and asked them to make a game in the vein of "Defender of the Crown" but for the C64.
So they moved to France where UBIsoft had rented a real life castle for all their coders/musicians/graphic artists etc...
A bit like Silicon Valley, but in a French chateau.
Anyway, they stayed there for a couple of months and finished the game (which was a modest success). Leto II didn't enjoy being away from home for so long so after that one game he quit, Ram stayed on with UBIsoft for a few more years.
So to cut a long story short (which has never been my forté) the entire game was made by CFR ;)
Btw, it's the only piece of software where I get an actual greeting where they used my real name :) |

Great story, thanks!
I'm curious what Ram and Leto II are up to nowadays? They were super talented.
(And thanks for the great demos!) |
