I of the mask (C64)

As you can see it was sold... or not ?

Link to german Happy Computer 2.86
http://www.stcarchiv.de/hc1986/02_imask.php

I saw in the past a picture of this game by 1001crew and i saw some guys offering the crack in there ads and i saw adverts from distributors. But i still wonder where this
release could be found for the C64 done in 1986 ?

If 'I, of the Mask' was really sold it's completely impossible only one guy remembers playing the game (who threw away his disks..) It must have been a commercial release, so it must have been widely sold. And as it was a Spectrum classic a C64 conversion must have gained wide attention.

I'm replying to your thread because its complete nonsense to insist on something which obviously isn't. That's the way it is, not that I dont understand your interest in having the game, it would be fine if remains of an un-finished version pop up one day.

Adam,

it's ok but remember all the companies selling the game here
in germany.

i only talked about three but after that i found quickly
more companies which sold this game in different cities
about some months.

Companies couldn't and surely wouldn't offer a game for so many months on c64 cass. or c64 disk if it wouldn't exist.

Don't you think so.. ?

At last i asked the guy so often but he still said that he
had the game on the disc and lost it.

Why should he tell me lies ?

But maybe when we old & wise we would see who was right
about an old game for an old computer. ;)

Life goes on with or without Eye of the mask (sometimes
they told the game so for the C-64)

Greetings
BC

PS:
If companies would sell a game never done for c64 then i would be a rich man spreading the prv of 48hrs.

never done !

DEAR GTW STOP SEARCHING - IT WAS NEVER DONE !

The guy surely doesn't lie to you, he simply mixes up things. (it's been 20 years since)

Also it's been quite common to advertise games in distribution sales lists many months before they are released. It's no surprise the game was heavily advertised when the Spectrum version was a top game and in rare occasations the game simply wasnt finished. In this case probably no Electric Dreams developer was able to code a proper 64 verson so they cancelled the release.

Chances are there that some preview version exists in a former Electric Dreams/Activision coders attic, but no official version.

Other examples are Academy (Tau Ceti sequel) by CRL, Street Hawk (as mentioned above), Scooby Doo action-adventure.

We should ask Heinrich Lenhardt who did the review for the Happy Computer magazine in 2.86 also it's 21 years past until he did this. Hehe..

To bad that we couldn't see in his text which version was
reviewed by him.

Back in the day, games and even computers were advertised well in advance of them being complete; because of this some products fell by the wayside before they actually made it to the shelves. Similarly, magazines weren't above "cheating" by reviewing previews or even another format's version of a game in order to get the first published review. Looking at that review and not being able to read it, it seems to be "all formats" so they may not have had a C64 copy to look at.

A lot of Elite's titles had C16/Plus/4 on the formats lists and even the instruction inlays, but no version exists for that machine.
