Release id #102361 : arise #$10

A beginner's guide on getting your hands on "arise #$10" :)
-----------------------------------------------------------
This double DVD is format-wise quite an unique release, therefore it requires a quite unique spreading model.

It is deep in our minds that scene productions should be free, yet you have to be aware that costs of producing 2 professionally-printed DVDs with box and covers is a bit different from a 5,25" floppy. After long discussions within the group, we decided as follows:

1). "arise #$10" will not be a product for sale.

2). As we have decided to give it to the scene for free, taking into consideration our limited resources we have produced 50 boxed sets of this release. Those will be delivered as a gift by snail-mail to 50 people from the demoscene, both in Poland and abroad. Unfortunatelly, that 50 is far from the number of people we admire and respect in the scene, but we had to make this hard choice and we are really hoping that everyone not included in that 50 will not feel offended in any way!!!

3). For the rest, if you'd like to get your hands on this release, you have 3 ways of doing that:

a). option for the real swappers: the DVDs are not copyright protected in any way, so we don't mind AT ALL if you copy it from your fellow scener, any DVD-copying software should be able to do it with no problem (and it will bring back a nice memory of old glory, disk-copying days - right?? :D).

b). option for the real party animals: on every upcoming scene event with Arise members present, we will bring some copies for you. The closest occassion will be probably next Stary Piernik meeting, and we will definately be present at next X!

c). option for the real impatient ones: if you really, really, and I mean REALLY can't wait, just drop me (wackee) an email or personal message through csdb or any other board. We'll think of something, but you'll have to consider that shipping costs will be most probably on your side.

video and audio DVDs/CDs/MPEGs/etcblablawhateverdoesntrunonc64atall doesnt belong here.

So what about all the paper art? Disc covers? Papermags? That commodore logo that was cut into someone's lawn?

Last time I checked those don't run on a c64 either.

Just curious why they are more worth keeping than this.

"I thought things connected with demoscene belong here."
no, not at all.
"Hardware with no download link is ok"
no, it is not. respective entries have been, and will be, removed if noticed.
"somehow this DVD with c64 demos is not ok."
such productions fall into the same category as eg remixes of SID tunes - we dont add these for similar reasons.

"We already know you don't like us, don't have to prove it ALL the time."
actually arise belongs to my top10 favourite demo groups. <3 but you are correct - i dont like such kind of DVD productions, which however wouldnt be a good reason to not allow them, i am not the only one making those silly rules you know. but somehow those who run the site agreed on them - and you are free to like or dislike them, ofcourse.

and disc covers have been part of the c64 scene for a very long time, hence we have a category for it, and yes they are a bordercase already. (and that c= logo has been removed long ago as far as i remember.)

and what sebaloz said, stop the damn drama, use your energy and make a demo instead (and i mean it, please do).

By the way, if there is really a bad need to mirror the DVDs, I may be able to spare some bandwidth.

I "almost" believe the explanation.
Somehow K2DEMO.DVD has been here for seven fucking years, and nobody had a need to delete it.

Other interesting stuff kept intact:
Live: Vision 2003 I say "video != c64 scene release"
X-2000 Party Video I say "video != c64 scene release"
Venlo Meeting Video Footage I say "video != c64 scene release"
Haringfeest (Hype Hype) - The Party 4 Video Edit I say "video != c64 scene release"
Floppy 2004 LIVE Video I say "video != c64 scene release"
READY. T-shirt a fucking tshirt
Breakpoint 06 c64 Graphics Seminar is as scene related as this dvd imho

Don't get me wrong, I don't want you to delete those, I would like to see you EXPAND YOUR HORIZON a bit and keep in the database the things that are worth keeping for history's sake.

@Knoeki: thanks, I appreciate the offer, but if the entry will be removed anyway, then what's the fucking point? I'm just running out of energy to fight this obvious bad karma. It's just too fuckin' much, even for me, in the last days. So many words about 'love' in the scene, so little action behind it.

how about new feature for csdb - link checker?
you can use to test all yours entries, ensuring that you dont have any deleted links?

Why not?

Also, what a fucking idiotic thing again. First there was about hardware now scene DVDs?

Fucking stupid.

How do you remove account on this 'website'?

Dear CSDb admins,

If you think of a demo as an expression of art, with 'Art' and 'Rules' being adversaries by definition.
Then please take a moment and interpret the rules in this matter from a different perspective and allow arise #$10 to be recorded in this beautiful database, which i deeply admire and consider to be the cornerstone of the modern day C64 scene for which we all share so much love.

K2D, V2003 and T-shirt are all dead by now. Will you mods burn witches in the name of good, too?
