HVSC in CSDb
There have been requests from time to time about the possibility to add information about which SIDs are used in releases, based on HVSC.
This feature have now been added! :)
For now the feature is very simple, but it is made in such a way that there is room for many improvements. Here is a list of a some ideas I've though about:
- Possibility to attach sceners to the SIDs, which would be the composers of course. :) (I'll try to automatically attach as many as possible with a script first, from the info in the SID-headers)
- Some way to search for SIDs
- Possibillity to upload new SIDs.
- Perhaps make it possible to comment, discuss and vote for SIDs?
- .. and the ones I thought about but can't remember right now. :)
For now I got information about the 33'000 SIDs in the latests release of HVSC in the CSDb database, and from the edit-page of any release, you will now find a little place where you can add SIDs to the release, based on it's HVSC path.
For now there are only very few of these connections made, but I hope all of you will add a few from time to time. :)
There is also a little SID-info-page for all the SIDs with most of the info found in the SID-headers. The only way to get to this page for now, is to follow the link from the release-page which uses this SID (if someone have attached the SID to the release.)
.... or by going to http://noname.c64.org/csdb/sid/?id=<somenumber> ;)
Enjoy. :)
And as always, comments are welcome.
Thanks to the HVSC-crew! :) |

This is very cool. But will the links change after HVSC-updates so that we don't have to update them manually if a tune is moved to somewhere else in HVSC?

Yes! :)
The HVSC-path is not the key-index of the SIDs, so they can be changed without that effecting which SIDs are linked to what releases. |

Great! And then of course, sub-tune support! :)

Wasn't that just a tune that falls into the category "one looped sample played over and over again" anyway? I have a faint memory about having inspected this little demo in the past already.
its not one looped sample but 5 or 6 very short ones (there is hardly space in memory for anything else), and it even uses the normal sid voices for a (admittedly kinda subtle) bassline.

Oh yeah, and it's not even FLI, just MCI. So it shouldn't be a big deal. Six has taken care of it, it seems. |

Then the story you tell in the scroller is wrong. It says that it's non-fli interlace. But whatever... ;-) |

that refers to the oldish demo that inspired me to do this (it uses a regular fli pic with samples). |

Added a little thing on the Misc. Stat page: http://noname.c64.org/csdb/funstuff/stat.php?view=usedsids_all
which might help people inspire linking SIDs. :) |

How about adding commenting and maybe also (transparent ;-) voting to teh sids? ;-) But that's just wannabe improvement, I don't force you. The "still info" displayer has more priority for me. |
