Yes, it's Matrix who has passed away. This is very sad news indeed. We were in Zone 45 together, and he was always a very nice guy. Rest in peace, Daniel. |

Damn, another one, the deadlines come quicker and quicker (so to say). He made some good musics, and the elektron project looks interesting too. |

And I know HVSC doesn't have all his tunes. There's atleast one other tune I know about: a cover of the Persuaders theme. I used to have it on a rip disk, but I'm pretty sure that one is long gone. Will have a look! |

Oh dear. I really liked his collection of music... Sven-Bennys Dansband, Space Invaders, Methodos, Introboost etc, all great tunes! R.I.P
EDIT: added photo of Matrix to his CSDB profile (got the photo from http://composers.c64.org/) |

Isn't that the one featured in one of the Hackpacks? I can't remember if it was in the intro for Hackpack III or IV though. |

That's the tune but the version in the Hackpack intro was the one by Moppe though:

Somewhere last year, the Elektron web community initiated a tribute to Daniël.
About 30 artists like Autechre, Neil Landstrumm, Venetian Snares contributed to a cd with unreleased songs.
More info about ordering here:

Btw, from the 45tribute site:

What's with the name?
Daniel's old C64 demo group was called Zone 45, and it was his favorite number.

according to the demo Borned to Rule he changed his name from The Pelican to Matrix . so please someone merge both entries. |

I merged the entries. It seems he started using the handle Matrix in 1989 which makes me wonder if he really was the Matrix that was a member of Vortex 42 & The Warlocks in 1987-88. |

As earlier mentioned, I feel that the Daniel H. Matrix (R.I.P.) probably wasn't in Vortex 42 and The Warlocks. I knew and hung around with him and his group pals and even if I don't remember things terribly well after some decades, I think that Digital Dreams was his first group and that he started out as The Pelican, so I'd say that these were two different Swedish (?) Matrix guys. The chronology and so on seems wrong otherwise. |

According to You Heard a Rumour Collection the V42 Matrix lived in Arvika at that time, while the Z45 Matrix was from Tranemo. That's also some kind of documentation. On the other hand, they could have moved from Arvika to Tranemo in between.. |

While checking some scroll texts, I didn't find any overlap in handles of group mates or personal greetings between the two Matrix guys either. Therefore I'm quite convinced that these are/were not the same person and should therefore be split here on the site. |

Another aspect is that the matrix term is common in tech and science, so it's believable that different people from the same country would choose it. That would be less likely with someone with a weird handle like The Human Autofire :) |

Plausible enough - I created a new one: Matrix. |
