Release id #94445 : We Are New
I can't seem to be able to change to side 2 on my 1541U. Is it just me or does it work for anyone? |

I've heard that people have the same problem with Another Beginning. We use Krill's loader, don't know if that has anything to do with it. |

i just tested on 1541u, and what works is to Check the setting "trigge disk change by removing sd card", then you can just remove the sd cad, insert it again, then mount disk 2 and it works. |

What's the use of 1541u if you have to flip the card anyways!? I'd rather flip disks just like in the old times :P. |

@Stein: The issue with Another Beginning is not related to this. In Another Beginning the demo is killed off just by entering the 1541u-freezer. You can verify this by entering the freezer, then exit without switching image, then press space again.. the demo now hangs. |

Well, both demos use the Krill loader, so the problems may still be related. |

I am so happy for the rules in the compo to be a native c64 with a normal drive from back in the days when man was man and machine were machine... or something lame like that... ;-) |

Well certainly this is no issue of the demo but of the hardware then. |

Amazing to what extend Gideon went in emulating the feeling of flipping media, don't you think? |

I have these issues too (1541U II).
We Are New: Does not detect a turn disk
(I'll try Hollowman's workaround soon)
Another beginning:
Hangs on the Comic picture slideshow... Dr Doom doesn't go away so to speak.
...So, this can/should be fixed in the 1541U firmware then? |

A bit more info:
RC9.0 has the same erroneous results
The sd-card remove trick does not work on 1541U-II, there also is not an "trigger disk change by removing sd card" option on the II (right?)
Removing a disk with F5 and mounting afterward also doesn't work.

Yep. As long as it works on the real thing, it works. |

1541U-II RCA update:
- Both We Are New and Another Beginning do not load at all anymore, only a red screen is shown for some reason.
(I'm posting here, because I referenced this topic in the bug report on the 1541II website) |

Red screen means the loader failed to init. |

Stop using loaders incompatible with the newest hardware and use the native one instead \o/ |

Or, at least, give us a choice ;-) |

The scene's killing the 1541U. Krill is killing the 1541U! |

I guess (hope actually ;) the use of these fancy loaders only make the 1541U more accurate at emulation in future updates :)

Here I was thinking that it was just me being lame, and I didn't have the balls to ask if anybody else had the same problem. So thanks to Steppe. :) |

I seriously fail to see how this is in any way an issue of Krill's loader or even the demo... |

I was kidding, of course. It's an issue with the 1541U, nobody's arguing about it. |

I don't have 1541u V2, but I assume the flaws found by my 1541-Testsuite have not been fixed yet? Might be a start... |

Hmmm.. what version of Krill's loader are you using? Could it be another illegal opcode that's not yet supported?
I remember developing PfP with a first-batch 1541u, and opcodes like LAX were not supported yet (can't remember exactly which opcode, but I wrote about it in the forums) and that I had to 'fix' the loader to work on 1541u aswell.
Some versions later the fix wasnt needed anymore, but could you maybe do a small check to see if any illegals might be used in the loader?
Then again, if ejecting/reinserting the SD card seems to work, then that's probably not the reason :) |

WVL, We are new works on the 1541u i hought from you, 1.5 firmware i think.
And we are using Krills Loader version 92.
Whats really strange tho, is the order you have to remove the card/change image.
1. Remove Sd Card
2. Insert Sd Card
3. Change image
If you don't do it in this order it seems it doesnt work on 1.5 either. |

Oh yeah, I forgot! The 1541u you have is what I used to make PfP with :D Nice to hear it's working fine. |
