Group id #2088 : Cocoon
OK, there seems to be some confusion about this group.
Maybe someone knows more about the story: in The Addy Corner #1 (10/10/1991) Jack Alien claims to give the member list of the "real" Cocoon: Darklord, Marty, Icarus, Jack Alien, Steel, Gash, Dr. Disk, Myxin, Poet, Freshprince, Technotraxx, Teen, Cult and X-Chequer (and slagging at "Easy and his lamers" for not belonging to the real Cocoon). Boredom (15/9/1991) also claims to be from the "real" Cocoon, with Archer, Easy, and Mr. Mister given as members (plus Incubus, who is in the directory as spreader). Cocoon Intro-Collection (12/10/1990) lists Merchant, Dr. Fun, Mr. Mister, Archer, Easy, Darklord and Doc Mac Cult.
Merchant got busted in May 1990, and quit as organizer for Cocoon (see Bad Visit); later he declared the group dead, and went looking for another group, together with one coder and 2 graphicians (see Note for Ya').
So my hypothesis would be that Merchant changed his mind later and decided to re-build Cocoon, but the original Cocoon (with founder Darklord) had also survived.
It looks like Darklord is falsely claimed for this rebuit Cocoon - see Rolling Ronny +10.
I have tried to sort it out in another entry, for the second Cocoon: Cocoon
A funny effect is that the "Cocoon Rips", done by Merchant, up to (at least) #13 are attributed to the "original" Cocoon, and from #20 onward to the "re-built" Cocoon. (#14 to #19 are missing, unfortunately.)
And another story: who pixeled the reaper in Boredom and The Addy Corner #1? Mr. Mister or X-Raffi? Someone MUST be wrong (or at least omitting a credit for a part of the graphic). :-)
So that was a major act of investigation; does anyone have more insight in that matter? |
