I found this on a disk with a dir comment saying "AMOK PREVIEW"; gamebase however attributes it to Electric Boyz - which is right? |

Electric Boys Entertainment Software (EBES) has nothing to do with the cracker group Electric Boyz as far as I know. AMOK might have done the prv, and hoped to get it published by EBES, however. But still: 1991 is too early to be EBES. They seem to have published games around 1994-95, and it might be just an AMOK game prv, that somone somehow attributed to EBES. Strange... I actually wonder where the credit to Electric Boys comes from.
You can read more about the preview here: https://www.gamesthatwerent.com/gtw64/gyrofalcon/ |

I was wondering the same, if the cracker group are actually EBES - it is in their group aka, but might be a wrong attribution.
Thanks for hinting to gtw; as Russ (who is apparently one of the EBES folks) writes he has no memory of that thing, it seems likely (also from the style and quality, from what can be seen) that this was indeed done by Amok.
No contact to any of those guys, probably? |

Are there any hints in game of coders etc? |

I didn't see anything. Maybe one of the cracker guys can have a look at the code? |

Quoting fgasking@GTW64I wonder if the creators were hoping to distribute through EBES. I can’t remember exactly where the association came from, I think it was Computer Scene magazine by Richard Bowen |

If we would get a hold of that magazine article, it might also reveal the creators. |

Seems Electric Boyz and EBES was connected after all. But as Ironfist has no memory of them making this preview, I would guess it's an AMOK prv. It was released in 1991 by a lot of cracking groups, so I would say it was "leaked" then. Fits pretty well with the AMOK heydays. Will search my archive a little. Perhaps Electric Boyz released it as well in 1991, and got the creds for making it? Fits pretty well in their cracking heydays too. |

Gyrofalcon prv was also first released by Bad Taste, which makes me think it was made by AMOK.
Also, I found Gyrofalcon Preview. The intro scroller states it's by AMOK, and the original was supplied by none other than... Antichrist/GP aka OMG/AMOK. ;) It was spread together with Turn It 2 +3, also by AMOK and supplied by GP.
Gyrofalcon Preview by Depredators, Gyrofalcon Preview by Dynamix, Gyrofalcon Preview by TRC/Blasters also mentions that the game is made by AMOK.
No direct proof, but seems suspicious and likely.
My guess is still that Electric Boyz also released a crack of it (not found yet), and someone, somewhere, thought they made it. |
