Event id #105 : Horizon Easterparty 1990

Does anybody know, an attendant possibly, if the competitions were on 15th or 16th?

Been posting parts of this report already, so I better give you the whole thing.

From Lethal News 4

------------------------------------------------
party : HORIZON

another party, another success...
----------------------------------------

we started planning this party already
sometime during the autumn '89, and we
spread information about it before and
on light's party during halloween.
we thought of all other parties we've
been at (and that's not a small number)
and tried to remember what was good and
what was bad. we wanted our party to be
really g o o d! so, the x-mas came and
after that the dominators-upfront party.
ofcoz we were there!! we brought 300
invitations to the party... we didn't
bring a single one back home!!!
back home we continued the planning,
but now i (bagder) started to get some
trouble with doing that coz my fucking
military service started on the 8th of
january... but i kept on during the
weekends and zagor did everything that
only could be done during the weeks.
like ordering the prices (for more than
3000 swedish crowns...), talking to the
guys that should fix the cafeteria, try
getting one of those big screens and
renting extra chairs and tables.
finally the day before the party was
here. i got home from the army around
1800 hours and found no zagor at home!!!
kjer and i drove over with all our stuff
to the school where the party should
start the next day and there we found
him!
already that evening a lot of people
had showed up, among others three dutch
guys, two from germany, some guys from
switzerland and so on... (no names...)
we registered all the guys that
entered the party on our cute little at-
80286... it appeared to be almost the
best thing we fixed to the party! since
not a single person managed to avoid the
registration, we knew exactly how many
guys had entered, which members from
which groups, how old everybody were and
which countries were represented at the
party...!
at twelve o'clock friday the 13th of
april 1990, (six hours after we opened
the doors!) more than 300 guys had
walked in threw the doors and it seemed
as it was gonna be just another giant
party... after the friday, about 450
guys had entered... guys from sweden,
norway, finland, denmark, germany,
england, switzerland, holland and poland
!!! and they came from groups like...
horizon, light, flash, censor, s451,
fairlight, panoramic designs, shape,
killers, beyond force, contex, warriors
of time, origo, vibrants(jch), invoice
(danko), rizing, ikari+talent, triad,
wwe, cosmos, powers of pain. just to
name some of the present groups...
the party went on as parties use to go
on, a lot of coding, vhs-copying, porno-
movies, running around, fuses burning,
lamers shouting, coke-coke-coke-coke
(during the first day the cafeteria sold
1128 cans of coke! that makes 376 litres
!), samples on high volume, rubbersnake-
fighting (hrmm... horizon isn't really
innocent when it comes to that point!)
and i'm sorry to say, a lot of stealing
of cartridges...
for all the visitors the party may
have been just like another party, but
for us it was different. varby, where
the party was located, is one of the
most criminal parts of sweden, and that
was shown... every night there were a
gang of youngsters outside the door that
wanted to get in (some of them needed a
bit violence to understand that they had
nothing to do in there!), at least one
window a day got crashed by people from
the outside, and some outsiders also
stole the third price in the demo-compo
and a brand new vhs-video... we were
forced to have people working as guards
in the entrance...!
time passed and we got closer deadline
(which was set to 2000 sunday at first
but was moved step by step all the way
to 2315! (by the way, that was the last
hz-party where we'll move the deadline!
in the future we'll have o n e time!!))
and the coders of the competing groups
coded their asses off!!!
finally the time to leave your con-
tributions was passed and we started to
show all the demos on the big screen.
(127 inches!) 40 (forty!!! an unbeatable
record??? we will see...!) contributions
on the 64 and 9 on the amiga... it
took about 4 hours to show them all and
after that we voted for the three best
demos on each machine. at 6 o'clock in
the morning the distribution of prizes
started. and here is the results:

64 amiga
------ ------
1.origo 72 1.contex 39
2.light 71 2.phenomena 37
3.flash 65 3.lynx 29

voters: 159 voters: 71

if anyone wonders why there was so few
amigas there i'll tell you: some nerd-
brain in flt / lame-amiga-horizon got
the great idea of arranging an amiga-
party in gothenburg during the eastern!!
by the way, r e a l horizon will soon
show some mnemonics on the virus-box in
the near future...

after that all prizes were distributed
the party was over and all guys started
to get out of the building. it was then
the big cleaning started!!! we started
cleaning around 0800 and when i got home
that evening the clock showed 2145...

that's a part of the story behind the
biggest party so far 1990 (at last there
were 487 visitors, 8 hz-members and 4
guys in the cafeteria: 499 guys!!), but
don't cry if you by some reason didn't
show up. ofcoz we're already planning
another party, another time in another
school. the only thing that's for sure
is that it's gonna be even better and
inside the borders of sweden!!!

Ah I remember it well .. but in fact it was not three but four guys from Holland: Buff & Barfly/Powers of Pain, Sonix/Cosmos & me .. the guy from Poland was Kruger/Soldiers Of ?? (memory leaving me), a real nice guy with a beard that made him look about 10 years older than he was.

Kruger/Slaves of Keyboard, yes .. guy saved my life paying for my pizza when I had ran out of money .. I think I repaid him later with an intro for SOK. Still think I got the best out of that deal :)

Hehe.. I remember that guy in camouflage-pants aswell.. This was the second party I ever attended. The movie "Braindamage" was a popular movie. Horrible 5:th generation VHS-quality.

Someone had posted a paper on the wall and wanted to sell raster-time from a demo. 10sek / cycle. I couldn´t understand then if it was a joke or not.´:-)

Horizon running around hiting ppl with rubber-snakes.

Thouse are my strongest memories from that party. Feels like hundred years ago.

Oh.. I also have a major collection of old computermags like DMZ. Someday all scene-articles has to be scanned.

God damit! You're right, master Vodka. In 1990 i was only peice of shit, and in 1991 i was at least dog-food. And after HZ-91 i was Antic-member, just like you.
