Event id #1367 : Oxyron Party 2008

so come on ppl ----> you better be there ;-) btw i miss that lame discussion we had last year. yes the rule is again that ppl of <18 are not allowed to attend (except for knoeki who became somewhat a mascot) :D

I'm a bit surprised about that 18+ although it doesn't concern me. I doubt anyone would care about "Jugendschutz" when it comes to a computer-programming related meeting, but I guess you want to be on the safe side, don't you?

Or will be there be some live sexual intercourse on stage? j/k

@rough... exactly... we had long discussions about that last year. we are 15 organizers, and we have costs of some thousand euros... and we dont really want to get into trouble with "jugendschutz"... we are in trouble anyways because of invitin official via website... and we have a big band on stage with welle: erdball... we really have to be careful... das gibt mehr öffentlichkeit als man will... btw... we need more than 65 ppl paying the entrance fee or we are fucked :(

What kind of trouble is this? I'm curious.

Do some officials think it's gonna be a bad bad meeting of pirates, ego-shooter wanna be amok-runners and child porn traders? I wouldnt be surprised.

Dunno 'bout ze german laws, but in .dk if you have a party with other than PERSONAL invitations, it's a "Public Party" and you have to apply for a permission to hold the party and a temporary liqeur license with the local "authorities".

Hehe, same old, same old. Wasnt there the exact same "discussion" last year?
Whenever someone in the right position thinks he should intervene such a party, he will. Maybe the potential trouble is limited to warnings but certainly that would be the last party there then. AFAIK it's also based in a school - making things much more sensitive.
Anyway, those are the conditions of that party, and the 18 year constrain is set up by german law - and yes, sometimes its enforced and that aint fun then.
By making such a fuss out of it, all that happens is endangering even the presence of exceptions like Knoeki.
Most of us are closer to 30/40 than 18 anyway and too bad you cant bring your underaged GFs with you then :)

Currently I got to start hearing and very very much enjoying Welle:Erdball, so if I'll have the money to attend the party I'll be there.

Impressive... until i realised the plus 4 is spec'd much higher than the humble c64...

Very Nice though.

Surprised the plus 4 didn't become the demo machine of choice... Lack of SID chip the reason?

Plus/4 doesn't have higher specs than c64, just more colours. it has NO SID, NO hardware sprites, different accessories, etc.

If anything, the +4 is lower speced :)

It's a great machine though, and the two demos were really cool. I found them a lot more interesting than the winning PS2 demo.

So the mhz isn't a good indicator of performance?

The overlaying in the last part of threeve-beta just seemed more than the c64 could do, but I guess thats the point of demos ie giving the impression of doing the impossible.

No, despite the 1.76 MHz clock, it only has about 10-20% more cycles per frame. If you take into account that it lacks sprites, you have a pretty serious disadvantage.
