Admin successor in worst case?
Hi there,
is there a successor for Perff if he cannot continue with CSDb? Is there someone who has the required access to continue or at least move this project to another site without loss?
I know this is a topic people don't like to think about, but it would be sad if everything would be lost like it might have happened to gb64.com recently.

Someone will have to harvest the db and rebuild csdb.
(And gb64 just needed another host - and already moved to it no problem) |

@Didi, I had this same concern so I have a bot that consumes the RSS and updates my local DB. You're welcome to copies of that data if you want.
It'd be nice to have more completeness, like being able to get an RSS feed of data updates though - maybe that can be a feature request for the site. |

Are we talking hosting the site, or continuing development, or both?
Hosting shouldn't be an issue, provided whoever you find to continue the hosting gets a regular backup/copy of the site data (automated every x hrs or so), then it's just a matter of having/renting a server somewhere.
Having some numbers regarding size & traffic would be good if one is to step up to do the hosting. |

WOS (the zx spectrum site) sadly got taken over.. and well it went to BS.. it was sad to witness. others have taken up the gauntlet thankfully.
it's tricky.. not like we are all young and as carefree as in the old days.we are only here for a while and we don't know how long. Also we have things that change in our lives, e.g. kids or elderly parents to deal with.
my mum and family has met members of cosine, xentrix , dcs, fc4g , gp , byg, scs , trc, padua over the years and was none plus'd... and a few well known music producers.. but is in her twilight years now.
TMR leaving cosine way too early is such a case, as is others in their group have passed away. Because he was so active and the fact do you want to continue without such people is always tricky.
csdb has a number of people who would step if needed , i'm sure.. just if they went power mad (which has destroyed WOS pretty much) ... different matter |

It's not about "stepping up" though. It's about "handing over". |

There is a "dead hand" solution in place. But please. It's quite morbid to discuss this at all. |

as long as it's someone "on point" who takes over.. not an issue. |
