Paper magazines

It may be good to also add a Paper Magazine category. As there is quite a lot of these also.

They made stuff for 64er and also Magic Disk iirc. Also under fake names ("erect")

Ok, not sure if my mind plays tricks on me, but I'm rather sure that there were some articles about raster tricks by Crossbow printed in GO64, but I don't think these are available online somewhere...

I'd have to do *a lot of digging* (and sorting afterwards;)) to get more details, like the numbers of the issues. Must be around the late 90ies...

Well, don't bother if it is a lot of work, but if you happen to stumble on them (and remember this thread) someday... :-)

EDIT: I found at least some issues online, so I can start browsing:
https://archive.org/details/go64-verlang

And here are some more links (under Weblinks). Also to the cover disks:
https://www.c64-wiki.de/wiki/GO64!

Here is part of one article from Crossbow the (Issue 10, 2000):
https://web.archive.org/web/20070814113153/http://www.go64.de/d..
Unfortunately not the whole article :-(

Ohhh, interesting article! It translates quite nicely into English. I never knew about that D016 trick in the upper/lower border for opening “black holes”. Great idea!

Judging from the contents of the disk images that can be found under a link given on the c64-wiki-homepage, there was a "VIC-inside"-article about stable rasters in issue 07-1998. I'm pretty sure the "VIC inside"-article-series were written by mighty Crossbow.

Wasn't able to find a digital copy of this issue on the net, though. Should I ever stumble across it, I'll give a shout here (and e.g. send a scan of it to the ones interested). But digging for it is currently really not my top point on my to-do-list, I have to admit;)

In the last paragraph he starts to explain how one can create a real single-character vertical border scroller (see the Crest demo Krestage) using differences in delays in VIC registers and $3fff.

Copyfault, would it be too much to ask for a scan of only the article in Issue 10, 2000 (the last link I posted above)? If you can easily find that issue, that is.

Well, all the old Go64s share the same place "somewhere in my flat"... so *if* I'll ever encounter the mags, I will most probably be able to scan a lot of issues (my collection was not complete, but iirc only a few very early issues were missing).

So I can't promise anything. It'd be really good if one of the mag-founders read this; guess they could help in a far more reasonable timescope ;)

"somewhere in my flat"...

Haha, no problem.

Thanks, I'll have a look.

I think I understand the trick now with help of the VIC3-4 test program on side 2 of the corresponding cover disk.
