Alternative to 64Copy

Some days ago i've got my new pc installed with 64Bit Win7, now ofcourse the old DOS-tool 64Copy isn't working anymore. What other tool can you recommend which has got nearly the same functions as 64copy but is working on win7? especially showing crosslinked files on d64's was a nice feature.

how about running 64copy as an XP app ?

imo there is no tool that can do the same.

I'm also using Dosbox to make use of 64copy on Win7/64bit. The disadvantage of using Dosbox is that it doesn't support long filenames and when running 64copy inside Dosbox the C drive is virtual which means you have to copy the files first in a directory structure that is below the structure of where 64copy is located. When you change files outside 64copy while running 64copy, you have to restart 64copy to see the changes or you have to create a fake directory in 64copy to refresh the file structure.

You should install long filename drivers in dosbox.

There are some recent patches to dosbox that add LFN support: http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=40610

Thank god I stumbled upon this thread!
I have exactly the same problem, but with StarCommander which I use for all the D64 operations, including preparing releases for csdb. And I was forced to move to 64-bit Win7 few days ago.

I am currently using the SC inside an XP Mode Virtual Machine, which as you can imagine is heavy as hell... If this will work in DosBox with LFN then my life will be saved.

On to the testing!!! ;)

Doesn't work 100% :(
In directories with a lot of .d64 files, not all files are visible. The last one visible also appears as directory that cannot be opened :(
Or maybe my cofniguration needs changing...

I've also noticed weird behavior with the LFN vesion of DOSBox. The normal version (V0.74) doesn't have problems with directories with lots of files/directories.

yes, i do have the same problem, so i always put only the few d64-files i'm working on into a special folder, then mount the drive with that folder on, and when done with these d64-files, i start it all over (files moving to the folder, mounting again)..didn't find any other way, but it's okay for me.

We need to report this as a bug to the LFN mod developer, maybe there's a simple fix for it. I think I will push myself to do it, as working with Virtual Machine is killing me :)

Posted the problem in the DosBox LFN Patch forum. Let's hope that is something that can be fixed :)

Hey guys, some good news :)
Here is the latest version of DosBox LFN + workaround for Star Commander - it now displays all files in directories, even if there are a lot of them :) Posting the issue in the forum paid off ;)

Go ahead and test the shit out of this one.
No need to do the extra work now, Acidchild :)

The guy doing the LFN patch will also look into the second issue (wrong filesizes) in the near future. I will keep you posted.
