Big collection of 80s BBS gfx + display problems
I've captured loads of BBS graphics mostly from US boards 1986-1993. You can check it out at https://text-mode.org/?p=27470
Many animations are saved as PRG-files, and I can't find any viewer that displays them correctly. Does anyone have any idea?
One example is the first file in CG005.D64: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/nh32qyapwbthiuvtdtlnc/DISK-IMAGE..

You will need a viewer that outputs via $ffd2 for this one, eg it contains INST/DEL.
Try Triad Boardpainter, iirc this one could at least be used to create such animations - so perhaps it comes with a viewer
Loading the file into ccgms buffer and then replay buffer should work too
EDIT: I'll have a look at adding support for this kind of files to petconv (20190906) - the viewer can already handle them, but stuff like INST/DEL is currently lost in the conversion process. PM me your email :) |

I am using:
SEQ Shower for BBS stuff...
Don't know if it can handle animations though. |

Most PETSCII-viewers only do SEQ-files, and almost all of them display them sequentially, so animations work. The only one I've tried that doesn't, is the old SEQ Viewer by mr. ChatGPZ. On the other hand, it does handle PRG-files, but not as animations. Nobody is perfect. :D
I'll check out TBoard-Painter, and I've DMed you ChatGPZ. |

those files ARE "seq files" btw - ie plain data without load address. just change the type in the directory to SEQ :) |

Great collection, nice to see a chunk of C64 BBS history preserved as well! |

never been a big BBSer but thx goto for making this available to browse, really sth for PETSCII lovers to endulge in!
PS: Some 20 years ago coded some .SEQ file viewer (IIRC in BASIC), but I doubt it could handle INST/DEL characters, so it's probably rather sth to dump than sth worth releasing |
