<Post edited by moderator on 7/1-2017 02:11>
Hey dudes,
Mario Kriwanek ( MOK ) asked me to help him with a password protection on a music creation tool.
Name: Twice Effect Music Editor
It's not released until now of course. (AFAIK)

No drama, shit can happen ;)
To get back on topic, I'm afraid I'm unable to help, I am not a cracker, I'm a stoner ;) |

A quick skimming of the machine code. It takes a 4 letter password and then takes each of those 4 letters to do various INC's and EOR's quite irregularly. No good entropy seen, horrible encryption in modern standards.
So roughly 400K combinations A-Z (a second on a modern PC to try them all) but a pain in the ass to verify that the result is complete (in a way a good encryption against lazy CSDB crackers). |

Startaddress of the unpacked editor is $C000.
Unpacked memory range is about $1800 to $E800.
Put $99 in $200A to fix the graphicsbug in the font.
You're welcome. :) |
