IFAIK it was named "Mandelbrot Construction Set". It was published by 64'er Magazin in Germany in the early 90ies or late 80ies. The author was Austrian. If necessary I could lookup his name.

ok,
but if i search with google
i only find a link to the godot homepage,
because godot can load mcs files.

Yes, either .dat, FLI or Koalas from MCS- The DATs are really a great idea. They encode the Mandelbrot levels (up to 256) by assigning colors to them. These levels get converted to FLI when displaying the file. Also, the author used a 1541 as a *co-processor*! I was quite impressed.
