Jailbird, "ripped" graphics as in re-draw by hand - yes, but these are pure binary copies and surely as a graphician you agree there is a difference ;) |

I just found the title misleading :)
And yeah, thought of Liberation.
Check the original artwork there.
Pretty damn skilled graphicans in the speccy scene.
Speccy has only one gfx mode basically (some FLI-alike stuff came up as well though). And yeah, speecy has only beeper sound. period. All kinds of things suck. But they have more proper 2-col-er-8x8-gfx than c64 scene I would say. Despite the 'recent' hype of the beautyful 16col hires on c64. |

there are TONS of straight conversions in 90s demos. |

start with the kruger covers (*) maybe, or rayden/cyclone stuff. plenty of the vallejo crap may qualify too. i also remember a bunch of badly converted pc crap in a flood of demos from poland mid 90s. and no i dont remember names. thank god.

Krestology featured a lot of touched up 1:1 converts, and I also remember some stuff from Antic (Lunacy 7 I believe, but basically most of early Joe). Then, there were a couple graphics collections/demos in the early 90s solely dedicated to ripped Amiga stuff, like Amiga Saga (the Visuality guys loved to use Amiga stuff, but at least the "original" artists were mostly credited, even though some of the graphics were rips on the Amiga already). Also, the notorious Cyclone->Rayden stuff Groepaz mentioned, but those days quite a few people released straight conversions of Amiga/PC graphics as their own work. Too much of those to mention. Before introducing the workstage-rule, almost every compo had at least one direct rip/conversion... |

our Void has a straight converted interlaced AFLI picture (turn disk), not even touched up :) but back then it was already cool if you could achieve a high quality picture, we have grown since then and artistry became more important. |
