Gamelamers about the demoscene
I just had to share this with you =)
From http://www.protocol42.com/ :
"
What's the news? Well, first off, I'd like to welcome Legalize as a co-conspirator of the Annual September Protocol 42 LAN party! Who is Legalize? He's just this guy, ya know? (some of you will get that)
Legalize runs an event called a "Demoscene", and I'm sure most all of you gamers have used and keygen or some sort of exe patching tool that had a cool little gui and some built in music.
Well, that's a "demo" in this respect. People involved in the demo scene have competitions to make an entire 3D playable game with multiple levels and interaction under certain critieria, for example, the size limit would be 96 KB. There are a large number of these sorts of "demos" available, (here's one... http://www.theprodukkt.com/kkrieger.html ). So in a nut shell, that is what the demoscene is about, pushing the limits of music, programming and graphics! Find out more about Pilgrimage here --> http://pilgrimage.scene.org/2006/index.html

Wanderer was _never_ considered "top 10" in the NTSC demo scene when he was active.

Wanderer, you are in the Top10, because there are less then 10 Coders active in the NTSC Scene.
Here in Europe you would not even be in the Top1000.

"damn German."
Hmmm. Damn racist comes to mind, or atleast a stereo-typing slant. Please correct me if I'm wrong, the problem with the internet is also misinterpretations. ;)

According to votes held in the 1990's, published in a disk mag, I was not only in the top ten but #1.
Consider also CSDB votes, for which I have a 6.7/10 (interestingly enough yours 3.9/10). The above two voting results were held all across the world, and done in a fair method.
I'm not saying I'm better than anyone, but I am saying that the facts often speak a different story than one person's opinion. Oh and it means the price of tea in China has nothing to do with the fossil fuel market while taking a shower in the Bahama's :)
Anyway I'm done defending myself. The record shows a different story. |
