Group id #12640 : Quantum

Not easy to find a cool unused name these days.
Sorry, what? Not easy to find a name?? Did we run out of words in English language already? Come on.
Why are we not treating this as we always did in the scene? Calling it lame and forcing this group to find a new name? Oxygen64 had to do it, why these guys do not? Someone please explain to me this double standard. |

Thanks for all the (well known to myself) examples from other scenes (you know there was an Amiga demogroup Arise, right?), but this case and the mentioned case of Oxygen64 is about the same name within the same scene…
By the way, I think it was Macx back in the 90s claiming in one personal note to me that there was a group called Arise already and we should change our name :) |

Rebels didn't rename back then. And that was the same scene, same case. |

I have no recall of that, but could be true anyhow. I don't know of any other group named Arise though, and I have been a huge fan since the first Biba.
My earlier comment was just to blow off some steam. |

Just for fun I will try to find it. I kept most of the notes from that period ;) There is slight chance that I misremember something though. |

There’s Excess, too… the original Excess (from the U.K.) had a very good reputation for fast and high quality cracking, as well as some of my earliest demos… and, yet, years later along came a German Excess (“New Excess”) who hoodwinked the name for themselves, thinking that they could fool people into thinking they’re us…
It’s too late now, the Excess name has been dragged through the mud… so we decided to just let them have at it… |

The "New Excess" seems to live forever rent free in your head Raistlin! Relax! I guess its just a bit of rivalry, a little bit of scene fun ;-)

Quote: G*P had a PC group called Genesis Project to hunt down (Snacky tried) in 93, and also an Amiga group that stole the name. In 95 also Ewen Gillies tried to steal the C64 name.
Quoting Snacky: "Well and now i am searching for the Guys who claim to be Genesis Members.... They release shit stuff and use one of the lamest Intro i ever seen ! If somebody know someone or something about this Stuff.. Please contact a REAL Genesis Members on your favourite board to find these lamers and kick their ASS ! We wanna clear this topic..." :D
Wonder who would actually want to steal a name from a group that actually stole their groupname from a Star Trek movie?? ;-)
