Handle id #10120 : David Horrocks
I'm not sure if everybody knows, but he is the man behind the very good Hoxs64 Emulator:

Not only that! By now Hoxs64 has the most accurate 8580 Emulation ever was created. You won't hear a difference. :) |

Yes, I stopped composing....
actually 8580 may vary very slightly, but who cares , eh?
there's no perfect sid emulation because there is no perfect digital representation of analogue electronic circuits, and even those very good (professional stuff used to test for example work-in-progress devices) are eating very much CPU power, so there's always approximation on SID filters.
additionally real world analogue components vary from piece to piece (This is the case with SID's filters too).
haven't tested that recent HOXS version , however I appreciate work done on it, but before you claim its emulation is so fuckin' cool and blasting everything out check out sidbooster emulation engine on amiga by Glover, it may be better 8580 emulator, but written entirely in 680xx assembler so most likely it's just kinda dead ;-) . Actually it works full speed on 68030 equipped Amiga 1200 so it's relatively fast.
PS. Nata, why do you recently behave like kiddish asshole? |

Filters: as long I hear no difference, there is no difference. :)
And even if some real 8580 sounds slightly different you won't hear it. (At least all my 8580 sound 99,9999999999999999% the same)
Please record some (modern) tunes with Glovers Emulator and I will tell you the difference. ;)
And Btw: Try to use Soundemons Waveform Composer with Hoxs64...
PS. Hmm, that's a good question... :-I |

Raf, to be perfectly honest, I was heavily disappointed of Sidbooster when I tried it out at a friend's Amiga 1200 (with 40 Mhz turbo card). Maybe I was too impatient to play with the various settings/sliders until I got a perfect result, but to me it was not that revolutionary everybody is claiming it to be. |

Why an Amiga should be able to emulate the SID better than a High-End PC? :) |

Some posting habits in the c64.sk reactions looked suspiciously like you. But of course statistical analysis could always be wrong :) |

An Amiga demo kicked ass @ this year's Assembly and sent the PC crews home weeping by winning the demo-compo.
So I wouldn't be amazed if an Amiga app. is better than high-end PC stuff.
I've seen weirder things in my life.
