[pal/ntsc]

Currently the term [pal/ntsc] indicates if a crack is a first release, wouldn't it fit better to use this term only for NTSC fixed cracks? (and omit it from plain imports which didnt need to be fixed)

Theres only one agreement made ever and it was the release standards from 1987. The biggest problem is that alot of the groups didnt follow it.

Does EVERYONE understand what +4 means? 8p

maybe not. that only further proves the point that the release name shouldn't be used for further info.

That was a rhetorical question. Of course not everyone understand the abbreviations, what I was going to say is that if someone uses this database (or similar) he should learn some basic principles (by browsing through the database he does learn anyhow, if he ain't completely braindead)

Quote: what bordeaux said. there is no way to enter "this is a firstrelease" in the database yet. (even the pal/ntsc thing is a bit of a "hack").

i'd suggest putting such kind of info in the trivia field so we can migrate it into the new database later (whenever this will be =D)

From the early 90s, the term (pal/NTSC) meant that the game did need a fix and a $02a6 checker and template was added. It did not matter if it was a first release or a 100% version. It meant only this. Why is this subject even being discussed? Have the old school ways that was the foundation of the 64 scene been distorted so much that people forgot their 64 roots?

And by the way in the old days it was referred to (NTSC/Pal) but this was not accurate due to the fact that these games started working on Pal and had to be converted to work on both, hence the modern term (Pal/NTSC)

Actually, it's only pal/ntsc here on CSDb because majority of the people writing it are ... from the PAL side of things.

I still, and will continue, to use ntsc/pal until my dying days!!11111
