anyway, seems we had our weekly dose of denglish now. it was fun while it lasted.

I have heard, in some areas of Germany, people call police officers "Buletten" or "Bulletten"...

Yep, and I agree, Denglish time was nice.
Anybody ready for Spenglish?! (but I do not understand Spanish :-/ ).
Or Menglish (Malay-English mix).

Yep, I know that, too.
But I have heard, in some areas, they call them "Buletten".
Don't ask me where.

I could also be wrong :-/
Don't quote me on that

peace brothers (and sisters),

before you even get the chance: I am only reading and posting on THIS thread since forums and BBS-ish stuff is(became) boredom and a waste of time to me. People (true elites infact) pointed me to check my account again and mess you people for good.... :) --- otherwise I wouldn't even care to click the URL I got mailed.

and aswell: no, my spelling is much better, I just don't care for it after too many hours of computer work every day.

So, to get things going:

- It's not even funny anymore when people try to use nicks/handles as insults. I bet many people, from radork to sekret woman, WILL figure that coming up with something original to get the best laugh or hardest prick from it is not even worth the time spending on making them up.

- YES, I *CAN* make SM sweat: http://dienstagstreff.de/dienstagstreff/profil_count0.php3 will sure make him cum ...
(still fat and successful with it)

- The release lists, I just threw a quick look on, were ranging from nicely done to *LOL* ---- C'mon Hartmut, Arcade programmed their own shit 90% of the time, there WERE re-releases (13 yrs after, admit it, google proves you wrong in minutes) --- Nice one to Middy for giving a rather complete list it seems - also showing on the other side that there were so few fullpricers in the "last days" of what many of you regard as something they (seem to) want back.

What's he talkin of ?

... the dying of the cracking scene ...

[ ed.note: From here on I'll try to address the people who were active in the early nineties and think they can live off the "fame" they earned back then.
Nooooo, nobody of "you" does that ... sure thing ... laughter ]

Ye rite, stoned Count Zero is making fun of the atmosphere aswell which floats through this thread and which shows again that one bad apple spoils the whole damn bunch.
A single Secret Man it takes to poison otherwise more or less useful discussions and to take it to a ragging level which may have been well enough in our youth, but from which we (well, you) should have outgrown by now.
Many of you (seem/do) take their remembrance of a glorious time when the computer was big aswell - and - reflect it to current scenes and machines.

Guess you are mistaken here somehow. If some 15-20 yrs didn't show you by now that there is no history on "our" machines which makes your colors brighter after a while like it is on "real" written history, you are not even worth longish writing like this one.
Infact, every pointless decision in adding your name to a crack (in-game, not intro and such), turned out quite soon as a fatal mistake. [pointinghere to e.g. "last releases" which only fix, but never (should) change anything on a game otherwise]
We are looking forward to even take such stuff to higher levels. Code-comparisons and properly written descriptions on any released c64-bit will someday be archived in order. Every little text-improvement and gfx-change will get documented one or the other way. Trust me - "information technology" as we know it has to evolve to succeed and in another 5 years you laugh about your X-BOX, but are very well able to find out easily which game exactly was modified in which way and which version of cruel crunch is the same with just 5 bytes changed than another.

Conclusion: whenever you are not actively working on any real c64-related side anymore, ALL OF YOU - shut the fuck up and get lost. You are completely WRONG here and unwanted on 90% of all other current c64 "institutions" --- malinglists, IRC, forums and most likely BBS'es.

I *AM* working on several c64-projects next to a reallife computer job. Don't even think I wouldn't be in the place to be able to measure YOUR mileage. :)

Let's raise the level a little more and comment on the computer insults here:
(and also raise the linguistic level aswell, though a fallback from some people's side here is pre-programmed --- real raggers know :) )

I for my part can very well say that I know the machines I work with quite well. That's by far more than especially Secret Man will ever be able to honestly say.
There is basically nothing wrong with that since people's interests are merely different and there are people being into programming pacman in excel or hacking gamecube stuff.
Nevertheless, humans also put you into a drawer once they got to know you. No 10 or 40 years will change much of your view on other people unless you meet and *cummunicate* regularly.
Too bad social relations and real communication is something which was suffering bleeding edge in "the good old days" of the scene. Everybody was trying to use a linguistic code as much elaborated as possible or just "fuck you, dingo" all the way, whatever was possible to the person. It's especially fun to see that one can still trigger these instincts with the right amount of words nowadays.
Makes me think of the "10.000 apes typing shakespeare" theory somehow.

One fact is, that the "glorious" cracking scene was 'just' one of many bunches of average people having specialised on something that took humanity some 10000 yrs to teach these apes -> teamwork.

It's still the same nowadays. Teamwork makes M$ produce one bad thing after another (open source is no better) and a specialised team of apes buys or copies all the products to use and abuse them.

Now, decide for yourself, are you an ape USING stuff or a human working/developing with stuff ?

Damn, for some console geeks the question MAY sound hard, it is easy to answer in such a case though. :)

Kudos to Count Zero for this nice post.

After all I really enjoyed reading it and I haven't expected that someone would have posted something like this. While the post was a bit long, I must say it was interesting to read your words here. It took some time :) I must say that I am on your line concerning many of the points you have brought up here. I won't go into details, as I think that this would ruin any other views by people who came dry sofar within this thread. We know that this thread mainly was focussed on personal insults and about 35% of real arguments. But I hope we once have the possibility to discuss the topic on an upcoming party. Refreshing to see that somebody is actually expressing his opinion quite well -- Nice. My respect!
