#C64coders (IRCNet)

Hey

You are hereby invited to join our C64 coding-related channel: #c64coders on IRCNet. We hope to bring up discussions, talk about demo effects and/or just plain C64 coding routines. Optimization, SID/VIC, 6510-tricks or ideas and so on are our main focus. If you just want a place to hang out and relax you can also join and talk when the channel is alive. We hope you input autojoin on #C64coders in your client if you are a regular IRC-user. We want your support so we can fire up some discussions or plain talk about programming on the C64.

We are now four regulars on the channel, but we are pleased to get more people in, such that the channel gets more active!

Thanks for your time.

Quote: Ok, seems this "no lamers" clause has generated a lot of joking, so I'd like to clarify that rudi started it :p Only just a few days ago, something like "no lamers allowed" was in the channel topic.

If you want to know my real opinion, then I really don't understand the need for this channel. It seems to me to have been created not because rudi is looking for c64-coding discussion, but because he has been told too many things he doesn't want to hear in #c-64... Especially the "no lamers" bit is very childish and only adds to my suspicion...

And also see the thread DYPP for an instance of this that can't be removed :p

Please join #c64-multiplexers where we strictly speak about multiplexing sprites on a c64.

The people of channel #c-64 tought me to code properly, so it's a platform that already works very well for discussing code. As long as you put XmikeX on ignore it's all quite fine (if he's still around?).

Rudi: yes, please post a link so everyone can see what's going on there and when.

This helps to decide when the best time is to go there and if it's worth the hassle to join. I don't think everyone runs an IRC client 24/7 just in case someone turns up. Sure I could set up a bot for this or run a client in screen but I'm not in the mood of punching holes into the server.

There was a "#c64friends" channel a decade ago which I've followed by logs mostly due to it's timing. (http://comp.sys.cbm.narkive.com/kJr1RDGz/c64friends-chat-this-s..). Of course by now it's all gone, including logs.

As for #c-64 I got banned there in the late 90s and didn't bother to join since.

Did you say something that offended someone because it was true?

The difference is:

- #c64coders is for C64 coders only.
- There are no lamers allowed :)

invites ppl to join public chan, NO LAMERS. yeah, that's how you get people to join a chan. *shrug*

nothing wrong with #c-64. ppl don't like what ppl are talking about there or how things are rollin? gtfo. but it is a great place to go for coding advice. rudi's chan? yeah, nah. no. highly doubt it.

only people that seem to whinge and moan about #c-64 are bitter old queens that have no idea how to use /ignore, never knew how to harden the fuck up and stop being precious little snowflakes. :)

No Lamers - uses 70s tech to communicate XD uhuh seems legit.

IRC is a pain, and as I put my machine to sleep I then would miss everything said while I was away and then when I log in again, I don't get to see what I "missed". No history that is easy to browse, or even history.

Can't we use something like Slack? I know it is just glorified IRC for the hipsters but it does solve the problems a bit. Has history and file, and images which may or may not be a thing depending on who you are in with, lets you pull threads inline to the conversation allowing you to just peal off in the main stream etc
