CSDB on facebook and/or google plus

ok,

my pic Here Be Dragons has recently received additional publicity on facebook on a c64 fan page.

seemingly resulting in a higher than usual ratio of downloads.

PeteD has suggested that we should maybe exploit this extra "fanbase" who it could be assumed do not frequent csdb by creating a CSDB facebook page and maybe a new google one and feed it new release RSS data with pictures so people can be "hooked" by images rather than just text.

in this way the scene may well be able to drum up some new blood and audience.

not a facebook user personally, but, as an advertising designer i do appreciate any advantages we could exploit to gain a bigger "market share".

what do the rest of you think?

Steve

edit ok who owns the current csdb facebook page thats never updated?

this is done now provisionally. facebook page is updating RSS nicely. facebook does not allow for animated gifs so make your splash screens attractive :)

will post the link when the name is changed to final release one.

this (was that really hard to get? o_O)

Well yes if you speak English. You're talking about more then one thing there then ask about "yours"... Hence my question, which "thing" are you actually talking about?

If you mean the page, that's it, the one you so cleverly found. ;)

If you're talking about the url being posted, I asked Ste to wait a while while I got feedback of the current subscribers about how badly it spams.

Yeah, normal url should be www. I don't think the url changes the language though so any link should be fine, it's more of a user by user setting afaik. You can even read FB in pirate :) Yarr!

True, if you're not registered then it has no setting for you so defaults to the url's language. For me the cs-cz one is still English. Can't see many people not registered on FB using it though, may as well come straight here.

btw, you might want to use the "new releases" feed instead of the "recently added" one. right now it is flooded with old cracks :)

That's what I was waiting for feedback on from subscribers. I had it on new releases then realised that's what I usually read and miss out on new (old) releases so I set it to recently added instead. It does spam a bit sometimes but I think it's worth it and no complaints from anyone else so far.
