Release id #219154 : The Hitler Show
While i am totally pro preserving this kind of crap - perhaps we can have a "release only visible if logged in" flag?
(This must be a new low. wow) |

Quote: Then we have this piece of shit:
Proud to Be German
The only part showing a swastika is so hilarious that the release is not likely to turn anyone into a Nazi, rather it should embarrass the Nazis out there so much that they might change their mind.
Just by the way, the rest of the demo (apart from the irritating title) is rather harmless, even contains some 1988 state of the art code.
Having said that, I flagged download, anyway, just to go on Nazis' nerves (i.e. Nazis without account who search for swastikas here), not because I'm really afraid we're in more legal trouble with pixelled Swastikas than with downloads of warez. |

Quote:There is a version of it called Kohl Diktator which is exactly the same game but with all the nazi references removed.
which is kinda funny, because it is a hack of "Der Imperator" by itself :) |

While it's kinda funny to see links to stuff I never knew of before, I also fully agree with Groepaz here. This also reminds me that I didn't upload a release of a group called something like "NSDAP Softwarehaus" yet to not cause trouble.
FYI there are examples of swastikas around here on CSDb for years that should be fully compatible with German law as it guarantees to depict Nazi symbols e.g. in contexts of art and science. For example there's such a FLI picture by GBF/Crest in "Best of Crest III". (:
But I just wonder why there's no donwload for this (yes, questionable) release: Heil Hitler |

Of course it's NOT allowed to greet anyone with "Heil Hitler", anymore, in Germany, this will lead directly to being classified as ultra-right and monitored by secret services or even being punished. But just btw, the cross used in the release mentioned here by trb is not a swastika but a black cross/Iron Cross/Cross pattée used by German units since the Crusades and still used by the German army today. |

Astonishingly lively discussion around things not deserving that much attention :) |

Discussing such things is a good thing, is it not?

Not really
All of these releases will remain here as they're part of the C64 scene history
They will be hidden from public download
Nothing else to discuss? The politics of this sorta shit really isn't within the scope of CSDb. |

I'm with Moloch here.
It was OK to use this thread to report other releases of which no public download should be flagged.
But you could also click the "Discuss this release" link on the right of every single release entry in question to make us aware of such stuff.
Political debates with sceners can be done on Lemon or Forum64, they've got Offtopic areas with an army of moderators to... urhm... moderate or at least read such.
So, I rather close this one. |
