Unknown Realm - new C64 RPG on Kickstarter!
I know it is a bit lemony, but I have been excited ever since Mermaid posted the news on fb (no, she is NOT doing the gfx; or is she? ;-), so I couldn't resist sharing it here as well:

This sure looks AWESOME! |

Excerpt from official reasons for not approving: "Not a scener, no releases." |

Well, I took over the advertising already. :-)
And I do believe anyone developing for the C64 nowadays could be considered a "scener", commercial or not. Or would we refuse e.g. a certan Gideon Z. an account here as well, because he is actually asking money for the Ulimate? Oh, but hang on, he designed some levels for that 1989 Giana Sisters hack - he is lucky someone found and uploaded it, then. ;)
No matter, I just hope this game gets the support needed, and I'm sure it will become an instant classic. You'll all be welcome in my tavern. 8-) |

Quote: this case is pretty clear to me - if all you want is advertising your product... then no.
I agree wholeheartedly, but how does an admin know in advance that someone wants to register just to advertise a product? |

They don't, but maybe we should give them the benefit of a doubt? It doesn't seem particularly fair to have a discussion thread about their game with no way for them to reply.
The registration page doesn't mention any rules either, apart from expecting people to be already associated with the C64 scene, whatever that means. |

I agree partially. This thread should not have been started at all. I am sure there is a long thread at Lemon about this game already. And, just to make it clear, I am thrilled and want this project funded. That said, it's a commercial game project, thus not suited for this forum. |

I don't mind the topic being closed of course, just thought some people here might be interested nevertheless. |

OK, got a message from Bruce, and in fact he wanted to invite musicians and graphicians from here to contribute to the game (for $$) - if you look at the budget cutdown on the campaign page, there is a provision for that.
If you want to get in touch, just drop me a PM. |

Keep the thread here open. I've been to Lemon to check it out, and it's really hard to bear the stupidity of some posts over there - I fear my IQ will drop in the long run. |

Just to bumb this thread again, maybe some people might be interested in these news: there were a couple of (very nce IMHO) upates including the size of the cart (2 MB), the save function (on cart), and the musician who will do at least a part of the SID (and the PC) soundtrack: Chris Huelsbeck. No joke! |

Backed from day 1, really excited about this game, if possible even more so now that Chris Huelsbeck is making music for it! :)
Quoting bugjamno, she is NOT doing the gfx; or is she? ;-)
They've asked me to do the title picture, a daunting task, but I'm trying my best. |
