Trying to load Dutch Breeze...
Hi,
Might come across as a bit of a n00b however I am trying to load the "Dutch Breeze" demo using VICE with no luck..
Any suggestions?

Ok. Sorry then. :)
I guess my point is that I have a hard time finding c64 tools for linux - which I prefer as a developing platform, and I constantly see new tools poping up for M$ os's (grrr).
So far I only got the tools I made myself, and a cross-assembler.

Ever heard of cbm4linux? Seems to be a transfering tool like Star Commander. Never tried it, though. |

Perhaps people find it easier to make it for Windows or DOS? Plenty of compilers etc for them. Perhaps it is a source code issue because distrubting binaries for Linux can have kernel version issues. I code for DOS/Windows because it is common and well established interface and the handful of people I have in mind to use my tools only use DOS or Windows based systems as that is how they come by default. |

Stryyker: when you install a Linux distribution, you get all the development tools you need, as opposed to Windows, which doesn't even come with a BASIC interpreter anymore. If you're so ashamed of your code that you want to distribute your program in binary form, you can link it statically, and you won't have any problems with library versions.

Many linux/BSD distros may but not all. I was mainly thinking of all the windows tools and many linux distros don't install all GTK etc. tools. I personally don't develop for linux because I'm too lazy to get all needed docs for using their GUI's (I already owned Windows books) and I also prefer my stuff to be available for the masses. As I previously said the few people my stuff is directed at only use Windows. I also enjoy using Windows and partly develop my stuff for DOS/Windows because I get sick of the 1337 *nix is best for everything. I have no probs with people developing for any platform. |

I've found SDL quite easy to use, windows/linux/whatever compatibility comes automatically. Though it'll be a bitmap screen (framebuffer) application then, but that's fine for me.. |

You misread it (I should of written it cleaner). I meant they come with development tools but not always all the development tools I needed. This is a fair bit off topic anyway. |
