Release id #177727 : Goblin's Messys
As per encouragement from Moloch...
This does not really belong here. It's not a release and personal notes should in general be wiped from the disk before upload, imho.
If personal notes all of a sudden is counted as a release, then there's surely lots of releases to be added! |

Is this really a thing now? Uploading disk / sending notes from swappers as an individual release without the actual spread disk. In my opinion, without the actual spread disk the note is taken out of context now. Ohw, wait, the spread disk was already uploaded to the release linked in the comment.
If these notes should indeed be considered an individual release, CSDb staff should consider adding an extra release type / category. That way we can easily include or exclude these notes when using the csdb search engine.
Moderators, if you have not already had the pleasure, please have an internal discussion whether these individual spread disk notes are significant enough for the C64 Scene Database to be included in the CSDb archive. If it is, don't forget adding a release type/category for these notes and spend some time on coming up with some rules for this release type since some notes can be pretty darn personal.
Pretty please! |

Agreed.
Those notes are not releases and have absolutely NO place in this DB.
Get rid of this lameness from here. Only possible exception should be if the creator of the text wanted it here and uploaded it themselves. |

I agree that this particular note could be wiped. Will do it now. I would argue that many others should stay, however, if they contain vital information about the scene (groups, changes of members etc) as long the note in question is not strictly of private nature (1:1) and has no value as a source of information that is not available anywhere else. If added they should only be available to logged in users, however. |

I think personal notes should only stay if they are part of a general, public (spread) note - it was common to add a public note to a spread disk and add personal notes in the end, but that also means that the author meant the note to be public. The personals were mostly rather short anyway in such cases. |

Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but I was looking for forum opinions on "personal" / "contact me" note programs...
Regarding what Bugjam said, are "Contact" programs also allowed? I ask because I recently updated this release: Note-Maker V1.1 where the original file I uploaded contained contact text from a ex-scener ... then later someone added the official release of the tool and therefore I corrected the credits and removed the original file I added in 2007. Ok for me to make a new entry, providing that "personal notes" / "contact text" can be added on here? Yes or no? |

"Contact Me/Us" notes by swappers were MADE to attain as much publicity as possible, they don't deserve any privacy protection and belong here as "C64 Misc" (currently used category). And it doesn't matter if they are made with whatever tools or "handcrafted" by the scener(s) releasing them.
Totally different to
- love letter from you to your ex-girlfriend in 1989 typed in Shadow Writer found in some disk coffin by some dork some 30 years later, transferred and uploaded everywhere on the Internet, also here
- extra entry for spread disk note, esp without the corresponding spread disk |
