err I checked the site, but they have no idea what is a pixel art. they think anything that can be represented with pixels is pixel art. most of the pictures there are done by photoshop. pathethic |

Indeed. That link is about modern video game illustrations. Though the definition of pixeled art is not undiscussed here either ( referring to the whole conversion/photoshopped pictures matter). |

Well, we could still kick their asses with our hardcore bitmaps, show them who really is boss. They use special multimedia tools, we use our brains. ;-) Art critics will wet their pants when they see our hard work. |

This is game concept art, and it doesn't really have anything to do with the scene at all. The situation was another one in the early 1990's when the scene was a common recruting base for the graphics side of the games industry - back then you really had to know how to pixel. Now these people have no idea about what pixelling consists in. It's really all about the brushes. I do both pixelling and PS-stuff, and I can tell you that there is a huge difference. Pixelling, of course, is much more fun. ;) |

Err, does it anywhere on the site claim to be about pixelling? I got the impression that it's an exhibition about modern game art, not oldschool pixel art. Can't see what's lame about that. Or is pixelling the only acceptable art form? |

yes. pixel art is associated with pixeled/pixelized images and not with PS. |

Radiantx: I'm just talking about scene relevance here.
But PS pixelling/painting/whatever is absolutely valid as an artform. |

Oswald: The exhibition doesn't claim to be about pixel art. It's just an art exhibition called "Into the Pixel". |
