HI, just noticed that all entries according my person has been deleted. Since I aint did that then how that may happen ? Can I then look for unprotected users and delete their infos easily ? Also Leming found him 'deleted'.
Cheers. |

As I understand it; all non-locked entries (groups, sceners, releases) can be deleted, but it should be done with care.
I've done it a few times, to clear up some incorrect S451-releases, but anyone deleting (or changing) should make sure that he/she is actually improving the database.
That is also why I have locked my own record, those groups I maintain, and the releases I was involved in. I was considering locking all releases relating to groups I was involved but decided not to, since I dont want to lock other peoples work.
In case anyone is deleting records just to be an ass; well, it sucks. Contact one of the maintainers; I wouldnt be surprised if they keep backups.

Of course we do. :)
If someone deletes something that shouldn't be deleted just let us know, and we will restore it. |

LOL, common guys. "but anyone deleting (or changing) should make sure that he/she is actually improving the database." This is pretty naive when Secret Man is around again. Btw, why did the Anti-Secret Man demo disappear so quickly? |

Well, I can only refer to how I work when I do changes in the database. But then I've never been a big fan of destroying for others.

Maybe everything that is deleted (or even changed) should get a temporary status so that people can check it, and maybe protest against it (ofcourse this means that the person who deletes it should be known). The list of 'flagged' entries could be made reachable from the homepage or something.
This is a quite common practise when it comes to those databases where basically all users have the same rights. I've implemented it myself once for a Dutch bank where all the customer managers were able to manage every account. |

@TDJ: This is similar to how many wikipedias works, and it is actually a great idea.

It is very annoying when people delete other people's CSDB entries, scener names, groups, etc, when unprotected. It is unknown whether or not Secret Man / Real Elite is behind this, or whether someone else has accidentally deleted stuff when editing (which I cannot see the case) or someone probably has the grudge against the C64 scene, and just deleting unprotected stuff for the hell of it. Which is down-right lame. :(

And why we should not know who da hell dat asswipe is ? Suppose If someone would delete stuff (and acorrding to my infos not only mine and Leming's entries has been 'deleted' last time) that person gonna inform admins or users of 'the accident'. And if that not happen it means that was act of damn lame lameing. And such lammarz should be known to public. |
