pouet dev
moi,
am developing/enhancing pouet.net site, got couple questions for csdb maintainers:
- is there an official 88x31 csdb button to add on pouet "we like..", i'm in deep need of one. ;)
- should i add possibility for pouet.net users to add their csdb id number (and have a linkt to http://noname.c64.org/csdb/scener/?id=xx on pouet.net/user.php)
- should i add possibility for pouet.net party.php to have a link to the same csdb event? it's always alot more informative than pouet's party.php page.
- similarly, should i add possibility for pouet.net groups.php to have a link to the same csdb group?
the reason i'm asking this is because i'm currently developing party.php more and thought it would be nice for c64 sceners browsing pouet prods and groups to go to the csdb counterpart faster, since its alot more informative; but dunno to what extent you'd want the john does and pc lamers that usually troll around pouet snooping around on csdb more then usual.. so i thought i should ask csdb ppl before implementing anything on that department.. could appear to be abit steping on your toes if i didnt ask your permision or something...
let me know what you think :) |

B'jour ps,
I'm not a CSDb maintainer, but I would like to use the occasion to say three things, regardless of what the eventual outcome will be:
- Great site, great job, man. Super respect. Ahh, comme j'aime le pouet! =)
- I have always been and will always be a proponent for a scene where every scener can express and research his interests about the platform(s) he or she loves. Although I'm not active on PC or Amiga, I do follow what's happening there, and seeing a cool new demo on those platforms excites me as much as following the c64 prods. Why not provide sceners from other platforms with a flexible window to take a look at the c64 prods?
So for me, if there would be an increased flexibility to switch between CSDb and Pouet, it would be bliss. Considering the way c64 demos have been changing over the past years, the 'newcomers' might even enjoy their stay here.
- John Does and trolls: that is, of course, a less interesting topic. They are everywhere these days. However, the CSDb is in the hands of a good krew and the c64 scene consists of some real diehards - I think we should be able to manage. I also think that over the long run, the initial 'troll rush' will decrease and eventually pan out. I could be wrong there, of course.
Et voila, mes deux centimes. I'm all for these pouet features. What do the others think? Feel free to discuss =)
Of course, the final word comes from the CSDb maintainers. |

You on a french trip tonight, _V_? Get away from this Emanuelle movie and switch to Viva+ immediately! ;-)
But back on topic: Me is not a maintainer either, but I'd appreciate links, too. Might lead some old people to this nice place who eventually have some interesting info to add and some stories to share. I'm sure we can deal with the trolls. |

We, the maintainers of CSDb, like the idea about the links. We can
only approve of the idea.
Enough said? :)

moi,
all done with pouet csdb related updates:
- button made by frost/tulou added to buttons.php
- account.php now allows to submit csdb id of user (watchable on user.php)
- submitprodcsdb.php now allows to submit csdb id of c64 prod (link on prod.php if its c64 prod)
- submitgroupcsdb.php now allows to submit csdb id of c64 group (link on groups.php and groups.php?which=xx (when having atleast 1 prod on c64)
- submitpartycsdb.php now allows to submit csdb id of c64 event (link on party.php if has atleast 1 c64 release at the event)
all seems to work, couple c64 sceners submitted their id's already, i submitted a few groups, parties and prods.. now the rest is up to the c64 junkies visiting pouet :)
love,

it would be good to be able to set the different id's to 0 again |

about glitch on user.php: i wrote an essay on copy pasting code errors and i didnt learn squat shit from it. it's fixed now.
about putting it back to 0, use account.php for it.. doesnt it work? oh, tested it now.. yeh, i'll fix that soon..
about custolobsterization 7004+ super, as the name indicates its the super 7004+ version of the evil customizable options on pouet.net, each number there controls something which changes when you are logged in. for example user.php ojuice news set to 0 will make the index.php no longer show the ojuice news. set to 20 will make it show 20 items. if you check the pages the values refer to and do a little testing you'll figure out the usability of them all to make pouet a warmer (and faster) place to visit. |

Since the C64 release-pages on Pouet are/could be linked to CSDb pages, why not make it vice-versa? Is there a possibility/need for that? It's a duouble gain for those who paralelly check Pouet and CSDb for the same release. |
